    It's life blood to the engine, the cheapest care and preventative measure you can do to look after your engine

    I am changing oil every 10,000km rather than every 15,000 (and I'm not worried about the higher maintenance cost)

    After 4 years of Mazda3 ownership I told them to replace the ATF even though Mazda don't normally do it until the oil looks dirty through a view window - cost me $85 - I was happy with that

    apart from the usual oil change at the service intervals, i've not needed to top up with any oil.
    i check (oil level) mine every month - sofar good.
    sitting at 52,000 kms now.

    Never had to top up in the VRS. Been lucky, none of my cars have used excess oil ever. Even the falcon LOL.

    In over 30 years of continuous ownership of German vehicles I've found that it's typical to need a litre of so of oil between services. These days the light always seems to come on about 1-2 weeks before the service is due. I have however not needed to put oil into the Skoda (TDI) between services although when I have checked it is low. If the service interval was 20,000km rather than 15,000 I reckon I would need a splash and dash.
