Probably need a bit more information to get a worthwhile response here mate.

    Where are you located?
    What are your car details?
What service do you need - 15,000, 30,000?

Some might be able to recommend a non dealer VAG specialist that might be able to help too.

I was happy with the quality of my 15k service last May at Trivett Blacktown. It was on the expensive side though - $480 including a 4 wheel alignment (I'll be doing a bit more shopping around for my 30k!). Note that Trivett has just closed their Blacktown Skoda dealership, it's all moved to their Parramatta dealership.

Good to know you were taken care of by the Blacktown guys, another member (Ausspace?) had positive experiences with both Blacktown and Parramatta Trivett. Sucks that Blacktown closed as they're so close to me, I was going to book in with them but now I'm booked in at Parra tomorrow for my 15k. I'll let you know how that goes...

That's a good price from a dealer. I got the service checklist and pricing from Zagame Skoda Richmond (Melbourne) when I picked up my car.

    15,000 km $460
    30,000 km $620
45,000 km somewhere more expensive again (going from memory, written down at home somewhere)

They priced was only based on number of cylinders, these prices were for 4 cyl either TSI or TDI didn't matter. When I went through the checklist the only thing changed on the 15k service is oil and filter then all the standard checks, the only difference to the 30k service was pollen filter I think, doesn't really justify the big price leap over the already expensive 15k service.

I'm thinking of going to a local euro specialist, Eurogerm in Bayswater quoted $250 for 15k service using liquimoly oil (or fuchs if you request it). Seems good to me, and a lot better than getting into Richmond for dealer servicing.

The way VW/Skoda structure the services is that they all start at 1.5hrs labour for a 15K service, then add blocks of labour on top for each part that makes up the service required.

So for a 30K, it starts at 1.5hrs for a 15K (plus parts), plus 0.3hrs and whatever the pollen filter is worth, and then the dealer will try and sneak 0.5hrs on top for brake fluid (24mths).

Hope that makes sense. Besides, it's a bit silly to slap 0.4hrs on for an air filter replacement at the 45K, when pulling it out to clean it is included in the 15K. Realistically, you should only be paying for the cost of the filter itself, in addition to the cost of a 15K service. The service schedule does take into account to an extent, spreading the running costs of the car out a bit however, a lot of dealers will ramp the service costs up exponentially to the distance travelled.

For example, I've seen dealers extort twice the cost of a 15K service out of customers for a 75K, when on paper, it's exactly the same service.
