I think you will find replacement of brake fluid is scheduled in the handbook at 30k so in fairness to the dealer they were only doing what Skoda specifies. The amount charged does look high though if they were asking $850.

Every 2 years is in the book but the dealers try & get you every 2nd service. I get mine done every 3rd service which is still less than 2 years.

1hrs labour plus fluid seems to be the going rate.

Schedule says 24 months, regardless of distance travelled.

Flate rate chart suggested 0.5hrs labour for brake fluid.

Yep 2 yrs for brake fluid, so if it coincides (did for me) then factor it in.

Yep I am aware of that. Moreso complaining about the ridiculous service costs to do so. Considering that when I had my Polo, they did it without asking and the total service cost was still less than $600.

Just had my 60k service, vRS Diesel M6... $550.

Only other thing I paid for was $30 for fuel for the loan car... But I did put 200km on it, so whatever.

I was charged $360 last November for my 30k service including replacing the brake fluid at Performance and Prestige Coorparoo. From memory the 15k service cost in the low $200. Very happy with there service.

Had a 30K/2 year service done on my MY11 RS TDI DSG at Rockdale. Very happy with the service and the price ($445 all in). As others have mentioned, the brake fluid replacement is at 2 year intervals. I'm averaging 15K a year, so in my case it's pretty straight forward, so as expected the labour and brake fluid were inclusive in the service price. I was impressed with the feedback I was given when I collected the car. I was given an item by item account of what was done, and what the observations were, e.g. I wasn't just told that the brakes were checked I was told that their condition will definitely see them last to the 45K service, and based on the current wear rate perhaps even to the 60K service.

Someone else said that as far as dealers go Rockdale Skoda (/Kia) was the cheapest by far. I found that when I rang around too. That was obviously a consideration, but also that the workshop is convenient to my location. There's no flash lounge with free breakfast and expensive automatic coffee machines here (there's a good pub bistro across the road), but I found the service professional, friendly, and polite. Unlike some other places I've been to I got the impression that these guys really do give a toss about what they're doing, how they go about it, and whether I go back or not. On the basis of that alone I will be going back to Rockdale for the 45K.

my mate used to describe that little area as "man heaven". The old Banksia Pub (not the newer, flasher Roksia across the road, the tyre shop (now gone), the kebab shop, the motorbike shop & the brothel.

Would you believe that when they opened the kebab shop, the brothel complained that it was attracting undesirables!!

The workshop there is very small - 3 hoists & an alignment machine in the right side garage & maybe 6 in the left side - or that's how it was when I was mechanicing at that site for Toyota/Lotus in the 80s. It makes for a pretty tight-knit team. We actually ran the right side garage as a seperate entity because the guys in the LH garage were dirty pigs & their foreman was a lazy git. We crammed 6 of us up into "the top shop" and had a great time & churned through the work.

I might go back & see how it is from the customer perspective myself.
