but when the scheme ended (after 3 years) the sevice cost jumped to $500, the dealers must think we are stupid
Capped-price servicing is often subsidised by the manufacturer to an extent.

If it isn't, the dealer is either not making any money off it, or planning to jab you with other things like tyre rotations, wheel balancing, wheel alignments, injector cleans, a/c disinfecting, and so on, which aren't part of the capped-price scheme.

They're designed to keep customers on the books by under-cutting the small-time guys like myself and others.

I can match or better them in most cases, but not always.

I love the way Hyundai in particular gouges with very high priced servicing, we already pay too much for korean cars relatively to elsewhere in the world and then they have another go once you own the car. Kia and Hyundai share the same parts and Kia quite often are 50% less so most people in know go visit the Kia dealers parts shop....no real excuse for Hyundai to gouge, and yet they do.

I can recall getting parts cheaper from Mazda for my Laser years back than from Ford, and they were again the exact same part coming from the same Maz-Ford spare parts warehouse.

I had botht a warranty issue and my 45k service dealt with byTrivett Alexandria - no complaints with either.

My service costs to date (manual) have been $365 (Damelians), $441 (VW Village) and $575 or so at Trivett.

    That's the plan!
my shudder was more clunky and rattly. Gear 2 and 3 sounded like they didn't engage or disengage at the proper times. Driving home today in stop-start traffic after servicing/updates, I didn't feel any of the weirdness which I normally anticipate. Ill need to drive the car a bit more to give more thorough feedback.

On topic though, I just had a reasonably good experience dealing with Trivett Parramatta. $382 for 15k service. (90tsi dsg)

I've worked at both Nepean and barloworld..... I'd never take my car to barloworld.... Not that there bad or anything. It's a long story, more of a personal thing.

Sounds like trivetts is the go!!

Just had my 30k done (I don't do many kms so I go on months instead). $650ish, and they wanted an extra few hundred $$$ to change the brake fluid. Complete rip off I must say, for nothing more than an oil change and basic check/diagnostic. Told them not to bother doing the brake fluid, and I'll have it done next time.
