novated lease for 4yrs - of which 3yrs will be covered under warranty

resale is one issue on my mind - VW have great resale but it's too early to tell if that will carry through to Skoda.

Dog & Lemon Guide don't rate VW much pointing to poor reliabilty which is bit concerning as well. What says ye..

Personally, i'd go the Focus. Resale is likely to be the same or possibly better as it's getting a following, the 0-100 time is misleading because it's great in-gear, it needs a gear shift 2-3 at about 95kph so the 0-100 time looks worse than it really feels.

In a year's time, if Skoda have establihed themselves, there'll be no worry about resale, brand etc, but at this stage, go the Focus. The best sport hatch out there is the GTI, but you'll save plenty by going the focus. And it's nearly as good.

Sorry guys but I decided on the Focus XR5 instead.

I thought the Skoda was more a car I buy when I'm in my 30s and have kids - I'm out for the outlandish chav style the XR5 presents. When I heard the motor growl it sealed the deal - you have to hear these things.

Cheers for the input it was a hard decision.

Cheers. Hope you like your XR5. Please come back after you have owned it for a few months and let us know what you think of it after you've gotten past the "honeymoon" phase of ownership. It is always good to get different opinions on different cars.

After the lease expires I'll probably have kids so I'll be keen to look into the wagon vRS assuming they still make and sell them here.

I'll let u know about the joys and pitfalls of owning an XR5.

I thought I'd post the pics of my 5ive. Unbelievable torque, in-gear acceleration is top notch and handles well.

I still have soft spot for the Skoda I nearly bought - much better equipped, better fit and finish and more refined but just seemed to have more balls and loudness. I reckon once I have family the Skoda vRS wagon is on the cards - I always had a thing for sports estates.
