    Octavia RS MY12 Changes

Anyone know what changes are coming for the MY12 RS?

The reason I am asking is that I was pipped at the post for a good deal on an Octavia RS over the weekend (Sydney). The dealer has just rung saying another one in the same colour is coming but it is MY12 spec which will have standard bluetooth/multifunction steering wheel as standard. They can do the same deal + $500 (cost of price rise due to bluetooth).

    Does this sound reasonable/correct?

Hmm another one, funny how it now comes with Bluetooth (a cheap as option) but they charge you now for having it, its pretty much a forced option!

If you look someone posted the same thing yesterday, so what you have said sounds about right, I'm betting its the same dealer.

Sounds like when an Audi dealer tried to tell us it was $800 for a flat bottom steering wheel on an S3 because it was an option then had to admit that every car brought into the country by Audi had a flat bottom wheel.
Anybody who pays $500 extra simply for Bluetooth has rocks in their head.

I don't think it is reasonable to ask you to pay an option that you didn't specify. I ordered a MY12 Superb, it comes with front parking sensors and bluetooth, my dealer didn't ask me to pay extra.

If you can't negotiate that $500 off, and you don't really need bluetooth, I would go with MY11 (assuming it is 2011 built)

The MY12 comes with bluetooth as standard AFAIK. Not sure if there is a price rise for the updated model (anyone know if there was a a price rise for MY12?). If there is not a price rise I will be asking if they can match the initial quotation. Mind you the deal going at the moment means that the dealer is selling the car at RRP (all ORCs waived).

I am not too fussed about BT... wouldn't be an option I would normally choose (well, not at $500)

Latest: Called another dealer and there is a price rise of $500 on Octavia and bluetooth becomes standard.

That's a bit poor! Good to know that it's standard equipment now but still...

in another words - "doesn't matter if u want it or not, ur going to pay for this option and get it with ur my12 car."
if bluetooth was made std at the same price, then i'll smile.

sure the skoda bluetooth kit has alot more bells & whistles than the ur avg bluetooth kit that comes with ur mazdas, hyundais, toyotas etc etc, but it shouldn't have to cost so much, even as an option.

Excuse my ignorance but how can Bluetooth come with more bells and whistles? Does the Skoda system stream music too or something?

it integrates with the bolero/columbus and the maxidot. u can see your phone contact list, make calls & read sms (if premium kit) all from your bolero/columbus or maxidot.
essentially "the car" takes over, and becomes the phone. as a result, u get better phone reception aswell as its using the car's antennaes, instead of the phone's antenna.

and yes, u can stream bluetooth audio.

most of the other manufacturers don't have these bells & whistles.

A $200 GPS with integrated Bluetooth will do all that PLUS give you up to date and accurate mapping at affordable pricing, something that the Columbus is not exactly renowned for.

Most factory fitted Bluetooth kits (including those ones that are STANDARD and NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE on $15,000 Hyundais) will show calls on either the radio or the cars dashboard plus access call lists and give you ability to dial on a touchpad.
