I pronounce it Ok-tah-vee-a but Ok-tay-vee-a is also acceptable IMO.
Transporter probably knows how they say it in the motherland
I heard an add on the radio the other day and the woman who owns the dealership in Penrith pronounced Octavia as, well, Octavia, with "avia" pronounced as it is in aviation.
I always pronounce it as "Octarvia".
How do you? 1. Oct"avia" or 2. Octarvia. And is there a Skoda way to pronounce it?

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
Her's is the most likely the proper way to pronounce it. OCT (say "OCT"as in October) A (say "a" as in "are" without re) VIA (say as you would say send the parcel "via" AU Post). Othervice you could try translate by google and let it pronounce but what ever you will here the mine is the right way.
I know now; I'm not much of the musician but say it as the word used in the music, it is the same pronunciation in CZ language.

Which pronunciation is correct will probably be difficult if not impossible to ascertain. Just use whichever one you feel comfortable.
Depending on where you are in the world a Sub-a-roo can be a Su-bar-roo and N-eye-con camera can be a Nick-on and a Du-cat-e motorcycle can be a Du-car-tee. I think it will take a long time to agree on Skoda names.
I say Okt ave (like the short version of avenue and maybe how the Brits say it?) eee aaa but my parents both say Oct are via (like every other saying of it I've heard). Now Skoda is a different word altogether... Sch koda!
In our house we just call it the Skoda and leave it at that.
LOL. at our house we either call it the Skoda or "the yellow one"
I refer to my RS as "The Boss"
Coming from a Czech background myself, I would say it's pronounced "Ok-tah-veeya"
I think it is acceptable to have different accents. I prefer Oc-tay-via myself.
