    Octavia modell recommendations

    Hi All,

looking for a new car for my sister.
She's not into cars at all and would be quite happy to buy another Commodore VY wagon.
I'm thinking of something that's more fuel efficient with more features and a bit more style even if it might cost more to service.
She definitely wants a wagon for practicality and frequently does some country KM's so I was thinking of a 118 TSI model.
Budget is $12000 but would be willing to pay up to $15K for one with low K's.
Any other models I should consider or steer away from?

    Cheers
    Thomas

Pretty much anything petrol would be fine, and if you want uber reliability get a manual.
The TDI's are fine so long as your sis will be doing some highway or longer commutes, inner start stop traffic is a nightmare for new DPF equipped diesels post 2008. A non DPF version is the best for set and forget, the pre 2010 103kw octi's were non dpf if i recall correctly. No VAG car is bulletproof, lots of technology in them, but Octavia's are a dime a dozen, and plenty of wreckers have parts at decent prices. Get a recommendation on a good local VAG specialist to look after it, and you will be set.
