I am in a similar boat, 25kg and 35kg. I would put them in the back seat if i could trust them to not stand on the door cards and scratch bits.

I have used a sling between front and back seat headrests before. With the wagon, just put the dog in the boot. He used to just lay down and sleep, so pretty easy. I think by law now you have to have the dog buckled in don't you?

The harness is a great idea, and beyond protecting the dog,
you don't want 20kg flying through the air and hitting your head (goodnight to both parties)

My wife put the back seat up without correctly locking it in place
Days later I had to do an emergency stop from only 60km/h
There was plenty of energy in the seat as it slammed back down

I don't know anything about this one, but it looks like it's specific for the Octavia III:

Can't see from the pics whether it touches the roof or not.

I have one of these cheapies (currently on special again):

Does the job, but the "feet" get moved whenever one of the 30 kg monsters decides to lie on it.

Are you sure you didn't find anything on Travall? They have quite a good range of cargo barriers there.

The Fitting Guide (PDF here) shows how it installs. It doesn't appear to touch the roof - I'd say it's worth giving them a call to ask.

OK, so the travall cargo barrier arrived about a week after the order. Very impressed with the product and the process of buying and installing it. It was about $228 delivered from the UK.

With a little bit of practice it is pretty easy to remove and install. Build quality seems to be pretty good.

It sits above the cargo blind and has between 1.5cm and 2cm gap around the sides.

It has two legs to support it. The front one sits in the corner of the window resting on the trim (not the window) and the back leg fits in a recess next to the cargo blind. You can take the blind out while the barrier is in place.

There is a flat bar with a threaded top that connects the barrier to the locking loop holds the seats upright. Do NOT tighten this up too much as it can cause the front leg (from the pic before) to bend the trim.

On the bottom of the barrier there is a bar hangs below the main structure and is angled forward. I am not sure what this is for but it can interfere with hook that protrudes above the rear seat. I think the hook is for baby seats attached in the centre portion of the back seat. If you lower and raise the seats, it is possible that the hook ends up behind the bar and the next time you want to lower seats you have to fiddle around to get them down.

My solution was just to remove the hook from the back of the seat.

There are more pics on the travall.com site and the instructions can also be downloaded.

Thanks for the info, i spoke to travall and they said there is no mention of a sunroof version, the only reason they say it wont work on a sunroof model is they assume the roof lining is lower. I don't think it will be lower as the glass doesn't slide into the roof. But i guess i will have to compare it with scraps when i get it.

Looks great, seems to be a fair amount of room above it. I will be getting one if it will fit that is for sure!
