Ah! Mk 3 must be different to the Mk 2 there. Just tested my RS with no alarm.

On the Octavia vRS Mk2 8.5" ET35 fits front and rear, it has an obvious poke at the front and causes some scrub and bump steer. I would expect 9.5 on a lower offset to be a cop and defect magnet as well as spraying road film down the side of the car.

Maybe the MK3 has larger guards...

    Hi guys,

My first service is due - just wondering if there's any real benefit in going to the dealer for servicing, as opposed to a VW/Skoda specialist? Appreciate everyone's thoughts/comments on this.

    TIA

Mine is due next month. I will be servicing it with the dealer. Don't know about advantages but you could get:

    1. Good will in the long run if anything breaks
    2. Access to any software updates or factory recalls

If you plan to modify the car and don't really care about all the other stuff then it's better to get it serviced at a reliable independent.

Just had my 103 TSI serviced by the Dealer. Despite being part of the Capped Servicing Price system they claimed the online price was not accurate ie too low. They still charged me the lower amount but stated that the online price was incorrect. So ring and get a quote before your get you car serviced, Dealer or Independent - and check on the Skoda site for the recommended Capped Price charge and ask that they stick to the online price if you have Capped Price Servicing.

Apart from this the Dealer has always provided excellent service.

I posted a similar experience with my first service for my 103tsi manual about 6 months ago.
I was aware there was a Skoda fixed price servicing arrangement and printed off an online quote from the Skoda Australian website which saved me about $100 on the bill they first presented to me.
My model is right at the lower end of the service billing structure and I'll stay with the dealer while the warranty is in place, but if they get too greedy then I'll go to an independent.
The independents gave me good service for my previous mk2 outside of the warranty period.

I'm hoping to stay with the Dealer for the entire warranty period which is 5 yrs in my case. The 103TSi is I think the lowest cost vehicle in the Skoda range to service. Only $250 for the first two services. That was one of the reasons I bought it. So I was a bit annoyed when they try to change the agreed servicing price. If they stick to their prices there is no need for me to go elsewhere because they do a good job.

Basically the pricing of the capped servicing costs are reviewed annually and set for the year and as you say the cost for your model is $250. The 24 month service is likely to be more because that $250 does not include pollen filter and brake fluid change.
I was surprised the Octavia 1.4 was less to service than the Fabia 1.2 DSG at $279.00 and the VW Golf was a lot more still when I last looked, but have not got the time to do it right now.

My car was built on the 29th but still not on a boat, so I'm wondering if the build week delay meant it missed the boat. Still another 8wks before I'd see it once it's on there which pushes out the delivery date longer than planned. What was the average time to get onto a boat? Unless I'm doing something wrong but I'm using the cargoid field.

29 Jan??? If so, some cars are shipped to Belgium to be loaded onto ships. My Tiguan was built 5.12 and was loaded onto the ship 27.12. That was Wolfsburg to Belgium. If your Octavia was built in Chech Republic, depends on transport to shipping location
