Anyone know what battery type goes into the MK3 VRS key fob?

I just got a message on the MFD asking to change battery. Got the car end of Feb so 8 months battery life in total. Did others have similar experience?

Would warranty cover that Brad? Won't it be treated as a consumable, just like the battery in a TV remote etc?

Wouldn't bother unless it happened again. Having said that MKloo in Perth I thought had the same thing happen and wondered if KESSY killed it.

I have read somewhere that with the Kessy system, if your key is not far enough away from the car, it will constantly send signals to the car. therefore draining the battery. a person who parks his car in the garage next to his room, about 2 meters away, he needs new battery after 2 months, same thing for another person who has the bedroom right on top of the garage.

Ok, for everyone's reference the battery type is CR2025.

I'd think so as it's a very short life span (I'm still on the same fob battery from 2007).

They replace the vehicle battery FOC if it dies in the 3 year warranty period (which is a consumable IMO) - fob should be treated the same.

If it is going flat because of Kessy, then keep your fob in a tin can so it blocks the signal.

My Santa Fe battery went flat and died last year under the 3yr mark, the Hyundai warranty only covered it for 2 yrs. 2 mths is crap but check with the guy in Perth who had the same issue as I can't recall what the outcome was. In reality they shouldn't be communicating more than about 0.5m away.

Our Santa Fe is just about to hit 4 yrs old and I replaced the key fob battery earlier this year and it has keyless start etc. So it does hammer them earlier, I've never replaced a battery in our 7 yr old Octavias remotes or any other car I can recall if I think about it. They are cheap as, you can get a pack of 10 for nothing on ebay.
