    Thats a great selection Brad.
My Uncle was into Landies in the '70's and had plenty of weird and wonderful ones to repair. I recall a grey thing he drove with a ute body and a holden v8 ! (I think) Used to keep the tray full of tree clippings and such just for the fun of giving the newer models some curry.

    Apologies for thread hijack.

We weren't allowed to dispose of our Series 2 Land Rovers in the normal way (we had 6 of them) as they had been used at the Maralinga nuclear test site and could only be buried in a big hole at a special block of land.

When a ute became unsafe for public use (they were pool cars and people couldn't cope with the lack of synchros in 1st gear) the boss let me modify it into a tow-truck with lowered suspension and some engine mods. When I left they buried it in the big hole.

Sorry for this post being off topic. Brad picture number 3 brings back old memories, drove the Thornycroft (Rolls Royce B81 straight eight) back in the late sixties/early seventies, and the gear-box sorted out the men from the boys...

I wasn't allowed to drive it - nobody under 21 was allowed to drive heavies. We had it fully laden with 8,000l (?) of water & 500L (?) foam mix (I guess it weighed in around 12 tonne??) and the boss had it doing 120kph (he wanted to see what it would do). It doesn't sound like much but I thought I was going to wet my pants.

I had to pull the gearbox / PTO out of the spare parts truck. It took me a week. Every bolt was different.

And yes, the boss certainly had to do lots of double-shuffling to work his way through the gears.

Hi all, after reading all the pages to get here, thought it was time to sign up and say hi! Absolutely superb thread! Just ordered a Moon White Octavia RS DSG wagon with the 19" Black pack, tech pack, pano sunroof, leather and auto boot. I can already tell the 6 month waiting period is going to hurt...

Thanks guys! Well I'm hoping it is 6 months, haven't received much info from the dealer..

Just looking into the paint protection and leather protection, I originally opted for the X Pack but then quickly learnt it was a profit scam, so I cancelled it the day after ordering. Searching around I came across the 3M film, and I'm considering applying it to the full front. Has anyone had heard much about it and is it worth it?

Sounds interesting! Curious as to whether you also do RVCs on the Octavia III?
