That Scout is a MK1 - the rear suspension may be very different to our MKII's

You're going to be spending ~7k on parts easy (more if you want the R32 brakes)
Then there is a the labor
Then you need to get the Haldex controller working with the car
(if you're really serious, you would then go to stage 3!!!)

The R-line is only the body kit + lowered suspension but the Alltrack will be an AWD version with raised suspension. I guess you could tune and lower an alltrack and end up with an AWD sportswagon.

Hmmm I thought the scout would be the same chassis/platform as the Mk2 Octavia that could complicate things, It would be going past stage 3 to a BIG turbo and forged/built engine I really want to go pretty nuts on it maybe even an engine swap to a VR6 but I don't want to load the front with too much weightWould an R32 donor car be the best solution do you think?
It will be a long build process though with more kids and a house on the cards, hopefully with a nice garage/shed for building cars in
I recently watched the Mighty car mods 11 sec gramps build and it has really motivated me to build my own car as much as I can, I would save on labour and learn some awesome new skills along the way.
I'm really excited about the prospect of an AWD Octy RS with a savagely built engine, can't wait to finally start the work...!!!

don't see why it cant be done in stages, yes youll be dragging around a rear diff etc, but if its not hooked up, its just weight. can do transmissions and prop shaft later as you get parts
