Multiple (50 + over several months) n245 (? some number like that - part of the boost control plumbing) faults when scanned.
A bit of a flat spot from ~2500rpm to ~3000rpm
Slight increase in fuel consumption around the suburbs or at >100kmh.

No show stoppers & I drove it around for mumblemumble months before i had replaced (cow of a job it is too).

The best I've got from my RS TDi was 5.4l/100km driving from Mildura to Melbourne (@ 540km trip with last bit across inner Melbourne to get from the Calder to Nunawading). That was with just myself in the car and an average speed of 98km/h. Most of the trip is flat with speeds limits 100km/h to 110km/h and I normally do @ 8km/h over the limit. Around Kyneton/Mt Macedon it does get a little hilly though.

My Ocy has now done Melbourne to Mildura & back 13 times now. I find when you have all the family plus their gear it goes up. Also with the Bluefin tune the best I've got is 5.9l/100km even though your not using the xtra power sitting at 110km/h (admittedly with all the trips I've done with the Bluefin, I've also had the family with me). On average without the Bluefin I get @ 5.7l/100km, with it @ 6l/100km.

Have also found when doing under 100km/h and cruising, the average is under 5l/100km.

How much of a benefit is the bluefin?

Well I wish I had taken a photo! 1122km on 53 L from Port Pirie back to Melbourne via the Riverland, Mildura and Swan Hill!

It was part of a 11,000k road trip over 5 weeks May June last year.

We averaged 5.18L per 100k over the entire distance. All based on the fuel filled.

I find that my trip computer on the Jetta can be out (read optimistic) by anything up to 0.6 L per 100k. Around Melbourne even though the memory 2 may indicate 5.5 - 5.7 in reality I'm getting 6.1 - 6.3

It's a mild tune but worth it in my eyes. It gives approx 10% to 15% more power & torque. There is less of a flat spot below 1,800rpm but when the turbo does kick in its lots stronger especially from 2,000rpm to 3,000rpm. It also revs to 5,000rpm rather than 4,500rpm however its still a little breathless up high and when it changes up into the next gear the power/torque surges again.

Cost is roughly $700 and when you go in for a service you can put the standard tune back on and back to Bluefin afterwards - takes approx 5 minutes and the dealer doesn't know you had a tune on the car. Check it out on www.superchips.co.uk.

I know some people on this forum are against tunes (warranty and insurance issues) and far enough, but I think it's worth the $700 investment.

that was my second tank in the octavia ever..... the other day I got a 988. I think with a different rout to work (I do the F3 between gosford and hornsby, which is lots of big hills) I'm sure it would be easy to get more than 1000km, but I'm taking up the challenge, and my goal will be 1200km

we shall see - gimme a couple of weeks.

    Its on!

These are some awesome results from everybody.

    (Note: No Golf bluemotion's)

When I got the car, I started a Fuelly account to track everything. Really some interesting numbers here.

doing ok. started driving for economy 190km's into the tank, bit of a disadvantage, but I'm just above half and the trip is at 560km.... not too bad.

Did a trip to Rutherford up the F3 a few weeks ago, got 6.6L/100 average for the journey. 147TSI with bluefin.

For those who are considering bluefin, its good, but it takes about a tank to 'settle in'

Once installed, i had more power and torque, but was doing around 18L/100 around the city, by the time the tank was half done, i was back to around 9-10L/100. IMO well worth the money i paid for it.
