i regularly get 5.5 to 6 in my 1.8TSI on hwy drives though never been on a long cruise to test kms on a full tank
So, today I realised that during the past week I've posted the best economy figures I've ever seen.
I hereby challenge the rest of VWWC Skoda (Or the entirety of VWWC) to best my numbers!! (photographic proof required, please )
2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
1990 Mk1 Cabrio. 1.9 IDI w/ 18PSI.
1985 Mazda T3500 adventuremobile. 1973 Superbug. 1972 Volvo 144 in poo-brown.

No photographic proof, but I've done 4.7 for a ~100km trip. Was all at ~80km/h which seems most efficient as faster than that introduces too much drag and revs go up too much to be really riding the torque wave properly.
Drive from Sydney to Melbourne when I first bought the car however was 5.7L/100 sitting slightly under the limit as I wasn't wearing plates.

Nope, not playing.
My economy has been (relatively) crap for the last mumblemumble months while the N75 valve wasn't working - I was up around 6.8 instead of 6.5. The deterioration was particularly noticeable in suburban running or when doing >100kmh. Greater than 100kmh was up around 7.5l/100 on the flat. Suburban had me going from an average 6.2l/100 back up to 7.0L/100 in the 5km/15m trip from the end of the motorway to home. All of this is with a Bluefin remap BTW
Replacing the N75 had no effect on the >100kmh consumption but fixed the suburban running (went from 6.2L to 6.5L in the 5km/15m trip home).
So on Wednesday I put the map back to stock - resulting in worse highway economy & worse suburban economy. YAY!
Need to put the thinking cap on & work out what is wrong. I'm wondering if it's carbon buildup on the inlet valves.
Does anyone know how to reset all the ECU parameters back to the baseline using VCDS?

I was reading about the carbon buildup recently, I used to get it with our Mazdas but only just noticed some dealers doing it, but noticably not mine...as yet.
I no longer have access to a borescope (camera on a flexible wand device), therefore, I'm not sure if there's carbon or not.
If I could work out where a vacuum line was on the inlet then I'd pump it full of Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner or similar (Nulon foaming intake cleaner, etc).
meh, my own fault for leaving the n75 for so long. thought all these minor problems were due to that.
