The funny thing is my dad had the first 2 of your RS' except he doesn't have a skoda
Hi Guys, long time lurker first time poster on this forum.
Well I bit the bullet on Saturday and placed a deposit on my third RS.
The first one being a 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 then years later to got into a 1993 Subaru Liberty RS Turbo and now I've got on order a MY11 Octavia RS wagon 147 TSI DSG in Anthracite Grey Met with the following options, Sunroof, Xenon's, Park Distance Control (front park sensors), MDI, Front Corner Function lights, Bluetooth (OEM) and Leather trim.
The car was already in stock at Skoda HQ in Melbourne (and the only one with that spec), so I should be seeing it in a week to 10 days time.
Even though I live in the Northern Suburbs, I got a great deal @ Peninsular Skoda dealing with John Papadopoulos who bent over backwards to do the deal, this guy is a genuine enthusiast to the Skoda brand because he owns a pre FL RS liftback with a stage 2 turbo set up and drives it to work everyday instead on taking a car from stock and he wants to see more Skoda's on the road.
I've got a couple of mods in mind when I pick her up, first one being a Reverse Camera kit that works through the Columbus head unit. I'll do a complete write up when I do this including coding as the system I do/did works through the port on the back of the unit and works with the Park Sensor system as per factory but without the guide lines.
I'll post some pics up when I get the car home.
Cheers
Peter

Yeah the Escorts were pretty popular, my uncle bought one new when he was 17 after being in the army a few years.
I dreamed of upgrading my stock 1.6L MkII Escort to RS2000 spec but only got as far as extractors and exhaust, reconditioned heads, wheels and instrument cluster. Then lost interest and got an R31 Skyline instead.
Lots of memories of blowing blue smoke all over the high school parking lot though, engine could have done with a fair bit of love.

I had a red RS2000 back in 1987.
Rolled it.
It was then a Red RS2000 with black vinyl roof
Yay another Melburnian Skodite. Now I'm expecting more Skodites to attend meets in the future as I'm getting pretty lonely.
Looking forward to doing a couple of meets as well.
After going to Richmond Skoda, and them tellling me they are the biggest dealer in Oz now, I've seen ads on Carsales and elsewhere with that claim as well. Amazing what happens when the biggest dealer (Bayford) close shop......I think they took most of the incoming stock from them.
Funny you say that, it looks like the deal will fall over because they cannot secure the car that I have agreed on, it seems that Richmond Skoda have the car and they will not give it up saying that it is sold.
I know the guys there as I was doing the reverse cameras and mObridge BT kits for them.
When I get confirmation that they can't do it, I will go and see Paul and see if he can do a better deal.
On the Bayford front, alot of the cars went interstate and the Mentone and the new Essendon dealerships took the rest and a few of the Superb stock is sitting at Camberwell VW and Epping VW but with that being said Bayford never really kept much in stock at Pre Delivery.
