Night Time Assist - Steering turns on Fog Lights

So while messing around with VCDS the other day I noticed this option, so I turned it on, and it works
When at low speed with the headlights on, if you indicate or just turn, the fog light on the inside of the corner turns on
I can see it being handy in rural or poorly lit parking areas
(Wonder how much they normally charge for this option)

Its called "Cornering Lights with Foglight Function".
Its a $150 option at the dealers......
......or free if u have access to a vcds cable.

I activated this a yr & a half ago, along with other vcds trickery.

The Octavia with factory xenons also swivel when turning - "dynamic xenons".

this is quite funny as you may have seen my thread and the issues I had with Skoda saying mine weren't optioned and it can't be done and also that the DRL globes next to the fogs (118TSI) have no wiring to them etc so can't be "turned on" from coding. When I pulled them out, they have the wires going to them!

hey hey.......unfortunately i haven't been able to find any specific vcds for the non-vrs octavias.
this is the coding i used:-

Control Module > [09] Central elec / Coding / Long coding helper / byte14 / bit 5, Check the box.
    Exit
    Do it

maybe the above will also work for the 118tsi

I was quoted $250 for "cornering fogs" when I was first asking about the Octy... Then found out it was a simple tick box and didn't ask again!

The cornering fogs activate when the lights have been manually turned on, and when the automatic headlights activate in tunnels and at night.
They do not operate when rain has triggered the automatic headlights.
Cornering fogs only operate when vehicle speed is 40-45km/h or under. (Both on steering angle or indicator)
For mine at least, the steering wheel must reach 90^ (left or right) before the lights will turn on.

Yep, they cost me $250, but the option was already included on the car (ie I didn't specify it) - if I'd known at the time it was a simple VCDS change, I might have tried to get it "un-optioned"! Fat chance on that I'd say - they'd probably charge me $250 to do that!

Probably spot on there. Or maybe even more because of the labour charge to 'remove' the option that was added at the factory.
