At the same time if they can split the maps up a little better (instead of just ROW) it wont be such a mammoth download.
Anyway if anyone in Sydney wants to give it a try
Just noticed Michael already did in Jan. So check the visitor posts and add your two cents to it.

Just spoke to Skoda VW Aus and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about, was out on hold and it was clear the customer rep had no clue. I made it very clear I wanted to update my maps and for them to tell me what the process is to update the maps whether it is done via dealer, whether it is possible at all.
Said something like waiting for Europe head office and satellites, made little sense. I'm taking it in for a service soon and will ask the dealer but I doubt they'll know either. I have ROW 2014 maps and the update still shows 2014 ROW.
I've not got a clear answer except they said that portal is not for us. And yet works and has our maps.
The dealer I got my car sent me a courtesy email asking me how the car was going. I asked him about how I would go about updating the maps as the version I have doesn't have my street on it. He immediately emailed me back with the link to the update portal, so the dealers must get told about it.
This was pretty surprising given that he didn't know if the car had DAB radio.
On another note, I finally got around to downloading the update on my work pc which uses windows. When I clicked on the download link, it downloaded a download manager which when completed unpacks the zip file onto a portable device. When I tried downloading it on my macboook it didn't have the download manager so presumably it isn't set up for macs then.
I'm going to try and update it on my drive home tonight. Anyone know how long it takes to install?
The current version is the 2015/2016. The one I downloaded was the 2016 so hopefully it is actually an update. It'd be nice to have the street my house is on showing on the map!
It appears that the map updates are a subscription service based on your VIN. Some like mine had the subscription end when the car was registered and the new ones have a proper x year subscription. Adding, there appears to be no way to extend the subscription and the dealers service departments have no idea what you are talking about. Last i heard from Skoda OZ is that they are working on it....
