2014 Skoda Octavia RS Wagon 162TSI DSG, candy white.
I had planned to order mid year when the MY16 specs were known and likely to deliver late in the year, but lately I'm thinking that maybe trying to time it so it arrives early in 2016. Just saw a few of you ordered in May and still won't get it until March/April which makes things trickier to time. Pretty much set on a Raceblue wagon this time around with the pano sunroof and in manual with blackpack and techpack and extended warranty. Not likely to get comfort pack.
I don't want it delivered early than Nov, and not sure whether the rumoured 2000unit Skoda catchup production might mess me up if I order too early. Also not sure with an factory order and such long waits what's the best time pricewise to order. Its not like you help the sales people make up a crap month as the sale doesn't get finalised until months away.
You are in a similar position that I was woofy. The lease on the SSV was due to run out in march this year and I wanted to keep it till this year at least. I don't mid waiting for an ordered car but it was the uncertainty that made that untenable for me. The RS was easily the best match to my wants but couldn't commit if they couldn't. I was pretty close to getting a Mazda 3! I really didn't think I'd be able to get one in stock that was suitably specced (esp a manual). In the end I was lucky - I really like the extras that I wouldn't have ordered (moon white, pano, auto tailgate) and I the lack of tech-pack doesn't worry me at all.
What state are you in?

Good to see that others have the same issue with timing that I do.
I'm back in Australia around mid-June, so the issue is that if I put in an order when I get back I'll still have to find something else while waiting for the Skoda to turn up. My in-laws might still have their Merc to lend us, but if not then the temptation will be to pick another brand and just go with that.
One option is to try out some local (ie. Swiss) dealers to see if I can get a test drive of some different models (especially the diesel vs petrol ones) and then put in an order in Australia - that would mean that some of the waiting time is taken up before I get home. I just need to figure out (a) how do I do this in French and (b) what will happen when they realise that I'm not a genuine buyer.

I've gone on test drives with very little intention of buying. They don't care.
I'm in VIC, I've test driven the RS here already late last yr at Richmond Skoda which is where our current RS came from. My current car comes off its finance in mid Nov with a balloon. I'm fine to cover that balloon for a few months but don't get any tax benefits. I've been told not to bother extending the HP out another yr and then paying it off early when the car comes. Have enough interest in our current Skoda to sell it privately so trade in losing value isn't an issue either. My current Santa Fe goes to my wife.
Aslw you probably should have ordered last year, unless the catchup 2000 build happens you won't see a car ordered now until sept or so.
Or buy from stock? That's the only way I'd buy a Skoda again.
