New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Apparently the dealer fit RVC is slightly better than the factory one, not sure if that's true or not until I get it (hopefully next week!)

My dealer told me that it's an OEM part, so it should be the same, unless they fit a better one from Audi or VW ...you could even buy the part yourself on ebay and fit it in if you have VCDS.

If you are in the south-east suburbs check out these guys - Autofidelity - Car Entertainment and Security System Integration Specialists. They do majority of RVC fitting for the VW dealers. You could save a bit of cash going directly to them.

I'm going through this at the moment, got a Race Blue RS sedan with leather and tech pack (no RVC) which has just arrived in the dealer yesterday, they have to sent it off site to a 3rd party installer to fit the RVC. So things have got a bit frustrating RVC wise. The dealer is now claiming the RVC was not part of the tech pack at the time of order and we 'didn't discuss it'. That's convenient because obviously the contract says 'tech pack' but not what's in it, and I forgot to wear a wire so I could record our conversation. It goes without saying we DID discuss RVC as it was the one big thing at the top of our list and it WAS listed as part of the tech pack at time of order.

Anyway, I'm trying to calm down a bit before getting back in touch with a bit of a plan and some ammunition. I don't suppose anybody downloaded and saved the pre-August version of the Octavia Price and Equipment list. I have the August version where tech pack is $2,200 with RVC and the current one where it is $1,900 without RVC. I ordered on July 2. The version out then just had the tech pack as price TBC, but the RVC was listed as part of it. It would be great if I could get a copy.

My original contract (signed may 07) says 'tech pack' and my new updated contract says 'tech pack w/o rvc' signed 28nov....

You might be out of luck....... When he confirmed it as having rvc, you should have asked for an updated contract if it was that important. Good luck getting it resolved. I share your pain!

Actually it looks like old versions of price lists stay online. Found the Nov 2013 one I think applied at July 2. RVC listed in tech pack of course.

Not sure on a next step though as my brain says be diplomatic because a deal could still be made, but my mouth might not say that.

This may get ugly as it's going to be your word against the dealer...it's possible that the dealer wasn't aware that RVC was not part of the tech pack back then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I ordered back in Sept, the RVC was an optional extra ($300 extra from memory) on top of the tech pack. My contract also has an additional note that specifically says tech pack with RVC installed.

To add to the confusion, RVC is now standard on most of the Octavia range (2015 Skoda Octavia gains reverse-view camera, new option packs)

Check the onlinr configurator as well as it hasn't been updated as far as I know, so still lists prices with and without the camera.

I don't know if this helps at all, but when I placed an order for my car end of September, I was going to order just three things from the tech pack. Button Start, Sound and Adaptive cruise. But it was cheaper to buy the whole tech pack so I did.
I remember telling the Dealer I did not want the RVC so it must have been a separate item for an extra cost at that time.

Unfortunately I do not have the items written down, just Tech Pack on the order.

I wanted sound, front sensors and xenons..... So got the tech pack.

EDIT: Lost my mind. Xenons not adaptive cruise is what I really wanted. Tech pack wasnt that much more than xenons alone!

Yep they changed it sometime in the spring I think because of the supply problems for RVC components so the RVC is now separate from the tech pack and that means they don't have to make as many. The changes can be traced through the online price list pdfs. The current one on the brochures page shows it as separate from the tech pack, like it was for you guys who ordered in September. If you look at the August version it shows how it used to be with tech pack including RVC, RVC not available as a separate option.
