Let me clarify, it was the panel beaters fault, not Skoda. In fact I bought an Octavia when the Superb went. The P/B bought parts, discovered he didn't have everything then bought more and so on for 8 months. This was confirmed through the dealer and Skoda OZ. Then he managed to cock up the repair, bought the car off me and still needed to buy more parts. But, the lesson is, if you need repairs done go to where the dealers get theirs repaired, or at least ensure the P/B know what they are doing.

Very disappointing that a brand trying to build itself here would put potential customers through such crazy wait times. Im simply not prepared to wait that long, so ill have to look elsewhere.
    a) What on earth makes you think that Skoda is a brand trying to build itself here? They've had 7 years to extract the digit & not too much has changed. I'm one of the early adopters & they haven't done themselves any favours (or more to the point, VWA haven't).

    b) Dec delivery on the wagon sounds reasonable based on everyone elses wait times (inc those in the UK). July+ for the less popular sedan? WTF?

No way is December reasonable for delivery. Wagon is more popular than sedan (numbers would be other way around).
Plan on 7-8 months for delivery for any rs. My ambition+ will be ~7 months from order to delivery.

If it takes months to get a car here at this stage, how can they afford to send parts when they don't have enough to finish off the builds that are back ordered. Reality is that these things do occur, Does anyone else have this concern?
Unless "your girl" drives the car 100%, what makes her more likely to crash than you?

Skoda piggybacks off VWs parts logistics. They have a hub in Singapore that distributes througout the Asia Pacific region (or is that Renault?). Spare parts are handled differently from build parts (packed, labelled, etc) and I believe a lot of the production delays are due to a small number of specific parts (RVC, sunroofs, etc). Keep in mind that Australia up-specs it's vehicles compared to other markets such as the UK.

I do think if you own a niche brand you'll be waiting a while if your car visits the panel beater. Best take out the extended rental car coverage on your insurance.

Also, AUS is a small market so I don't think they give us a lot of priority - hence our big wait times. They are building ~30,000 Octavias per month at the moment. AUS is selling maybe 0.5% of them.

Factories are back at work & have been upgraded so maybe the times will tighten up?

What I mean is that most people here would be pretty happy if they ordered their wagon now & it came in December.

Hell yes. If that happened, they should buy a lotto ticket!

July+ I find odd for a sedan, I have been told 6mths is average. Some of the bigger dealers are pushing to have their stock allowances increased and so they should. They were promised if they brought the orders they would get bigger allocations and it hasn't happened, if it does things would change quite quickly. I really get the idea VWA are standing on a few hands to stop the floods that would otherwise happen in orders.

Purchasing the car for her. me as an occasional driver and going by her previous incidents, ie she ripped her rear bumper off last month reversing, previously drove into a letter box reversing, (which is why I need to get her a rear camera lol) and also drove my previous new cars front lip into a ditch on day one of ownership. Apart from that she's awesome.

Just got a call from the dealer highlighting that my car will be built in September for a January 2015 arrival date. Certainly meets that 6-7 month wait time!
