Hmmmm. Definitely time to call the dealer Monday. My car better be on this build batch. No wonder they can't sell more cars.... I don't know many people who would put up with that on what is a 'normal' car.

    New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Thing is, my sales person is on holidays until July! So I won't get any news for a month.... On delivery/build of my car. Just been told as mentioned delayed by a month on both build (no date) and delivery (Oct) when I'll be in the US of A! Hah

I kinda laugh to myself, but in reality when the RS launched with no solid dates for tech packs etc etc, it would be logical for anyone to assume that you would be lucky to see the car delivered by the end of the year. Anything else is a bonus. The sales guys have absolutely no say or control over a car that was effectively sold before anything close to solid was about. If it was next year it would be a different story, but as much as you all want the car now. None of these delays etc should be a surprise.

What about people that ordered ambition, ambition+ or elegance. They are a known quantity, have been on sale for a while and shouldnt be affected by these delays, but appear to be.....

Before the new models came, it wasn't unusual to wait 6mths. All that has changed is that Skoda aren't keeping stock on hand as much. Or at all for the RS. It took until late 2008 after Skoda launched to get decent stock levels, and we are only 6mths since the first and very limited stocks went on sale. Delays have happened one way or another for factory orders each year so still not surprising. I would imagine towards the end of this year that the stock will pick up as Skoda will have a better feel for numbers. As for the RS I reckon it could take even longer, it was launched towards the end of one production year when they know there will be a break for summer adding to delays. I will most likely get an RS next year, but will be ordering for a MY16....I'm betting 50/50 I won't see it until 2016 if I order in July.

I don't think there is a issue with the 6 months for an rs. All dealers I visited clearly said they would be at least that long. However all the dealers also said it was 3-4 months for a normal variant. If they had said 6 months I would have bargained harder or investigated alternatives (new in that price range there really is none). I don't mind there being a wait, I knew there was one when I signed. I dislike being deceived about the wait. Have emailed the dealer to clarify though, so who knows maybe I will get it close to that promise.

The other variable in play this time is that global demand (Europe) is really high this time around. RS wagons are more than 6 months for a UK order at the moment.

Isn't it funny how much of a demand there is for the Skoda's yet they aren't so big in Australia... or really world wide!

Personally I think if Japan or Korea had a forced induction alternative with a decent interior and good auto box then VAG and euro manufactures would struggle for sales in Aus.

The fact that you can walk into Hyundai order the exact spec you want and have it two weeks later puts VAG to shame. Not that there are a lot of options to add on.

If they had a 1.6L turbo i30 with some decent torque I would have bought that over my GTI PP (which i love) and saved 20k. I bought the GTI to get the 6spd DSG over a sets gold and the PP to have xenons and to get it in 2 weeks as it was in stock.

My Santa Fe has an awesome diesel and even though the gearbox is non DSG, it is an awesome unit as well. In fact I prefer it over the DSG anyday. The new model has apparently had another big leap forward with quality, same drivetrain as mine. Mine is OK, but even compared to our Mazda 6 it replaced, there was still something lacking. But there is a minimum 6 mth wait on the new SF and there was for my model as well. I got mine near the end of that models life and was in stock so not much wait time.

The dealer experience was pretty woeful though, hopeless would be another word. My car was given to me partly washed but had been left outside in a rainstorm where everyone walks past it in the yard and where people go for test drives. So it had a dent in the drivers door where someone had opened a door into it and there were spiderwebs in the front grill. There was no cheque ready for me for our traded in 6 and we were expected to just leave it there with no paperwork to show handover of it. The service centre I knew was pretty good there and its local so I was buying more for that than the sales people.
