So you can't opt for extended warranty AFTER purchase??

Those option prices seem extremely reasonable.

Look fwd to test driving both the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI.
Overseas reviews say the petrol is thirstier than specs around town.

From the brochure, looks like the larger petrol engine is only available in Elegance spec?

Slightly annoying for us dog lovers who don't like leather seats (dog scratches).
So many airbags, am not sure seat covers are possible in rear?
Does the small airbag in brochure pics deploy from seat or trim between seat and door?

1.8tsi only in Elegance. This is no change from before except Elegance seems to have been up-specced more.

What economy figures are they claiming for Hwy & urban running?

If you live & drive down Vincentia you'll have no issues unless you only do short trips. I find mine needs about 10km on it before fuel consumption is at it's best.

Looks like the RS will be a bit of a wait

More new Å*koda models next year - motoring.com.au

“We will bring the [Rapid] Spaceback only, and we will bring it with the Octavia RS in Q2 [2014],” said Škoda Australia Director, Michael Irmer.

Edit: I'm confused about the Q2, since another batch of RS's have been loaded on the boats are going to arrive in Jan...

    Has anyone ordered one yet?

With regard to the options packs, it's a mixed bag. To get cruise control, which should really be standard or a ~$200 option at most, I have to specify things I absolutely don't want like touchscreen and 17" wheels. I realise the packs represent good value overall and also makes it easier when it comes to stocking models - but invariably some will have to end up with items they don't want.

CC would be $1300 in the travel pack or +$2800 for the Ambition plus. The $1300 Travel Pack isn't a bad deal & if you were really set on 16" rims & the stereo downgrade then I', sure someone could do a deal after you purchase.

There's a few threads at Briskoda about retrofit of the CC but opinion is varied. Some say it's just the stalk & coding changes. Part prices are being bandied around anywhere from GBP100 to GBP250 for the new stalk. Fitting shouldn't be overly difficult.

Adding CC to the MKII wasn't overly hard so I can't see why it should suddenly become difficult

Or they could have just specced it as standard. This isn't the 80s.
