I happened to be in Gold Coast (James Frizelle) Skoda and had the opportunity to speak with Sean. If anyone is interested in getting a Skoda in Brisbane, I reckon they ought to head over there and see what their options are with Sean. He was IMHO quite knowledgeable and I got some small nuggets of info I wasn't aware of, even with my reading of this thread

He was very enthusiastic and got me the keys to the RS wagon without any prompting, even going on a long route for the test drive so I could have a better feel of the car, despite the fact that it was a busy ish Saturday.

Have to say I'm very impressed with the car. Despite only a modest boost in power over my 155TSI Tiguan, the RS felt much more responsive. Taking off in first gear, I was surprised to see the traction control light flicker on - I had never seen that happen on the Tiguan. Part of it, I suspect was because of the FWD only drivetrain which saps less power than the 4Motion on the Tiguan. The second is possibly the increased torque on the new engine.

I thought the ride was firm but not crashy and I felt I didn't miss my 4Motion. The interior was IMHO more upmarket than the Golf VII. I loved the colour MFD and the large 8" hires satnav. I also liked that they didn't have large swaths of piano gloss black that were finger print magnets. There was just a bit of faux carbon fibre which worked quite well. I also like the shifter design which looked almost like a manual stick - I can't say I am a big fan of VW's standard DSG stick. It is better than the old MY10/11 one.

I really wish funds would allow me to trade in the Tiguan for the loaded up RS - Black 18, Tech and auto tailgate it seems far more practical than the Tiguan

Well I called my dealer and the order was officially put in with the tech pack last week sometime, he wasn't too firm on details but hopefully it does end up being built early June sometime!

Any order with Tech Pack shouldn't be built before week 22!
