    !
Not when I bought. vRS definately had more features beyond just the bigger donk.
eg: front & rear park sensors, alarm, 18x8 rims, sports interior with alacantra /leather & a few other bits & bobs. Strangely, carpet mats were an extra in the vRS but std on the Elegance.

Mats were standard in the RS always and they are RS ones. It was the cargo netting that was missing, and from memory only in the sedan, the wagon in both guises had it from memory. The Elegance also had full leather with electric seats, late in life the Mk2.5 got full leather but never the electrics. I had enough Europcar Elegances and Ambients hired that I should have "borrowed" one of the never opened packets of nets that clearly kicked around in the boot for years. The RS had the bigger engine with manual option (was the only option originally), lowered sports suspension, the 18" wheels, the alarm (although that went and returned at times), the special seats, sports steering wheel (although no controls until the DSG arrived), rear parking sensors (front available), the spoiler and different front bumper, tyre pressure monitoring and from memory the dark interior was different and not available for the Elegance. Probably a few bits and bobs I missed.

The Elegance this time around seems to come with more stuff so will be interesting what the RS comes with. I think the guessed price of a 6MT hatch is about right, ie 38k driveaway, a bit more with a tech pack. Still seems as if the RS will be missing those extra airbags which is odd, unless they come as a tech pack addition. They may end up much the same, but geared towards different markets, the RS will be stiffer and lower and "sporty" whereas the Elegance is like the 147 TSI Jetta with a more refined setup.

I'd have to go & have a sit in each.

If it was 2008 again & I was buying a MK2 then I think I'd stump the extra & go with a vRS wagon rather than the Elegance sedan but in the Mk3 the Elegance has a lot of thge features I've since added to my own car.

At a cursory glance the only downside of the Mk3 Elegance is the 7 speed DSG transmission which is a total show-stopper for me.

Comparing against how it is priced against the Golf GTI and other Octavias in other markets, I reckon it will land around 38K driveaway for a 6MT hatch.

I don't think anyone is going to be happy, if you look at the N.Z. Skoda price list there is a NZ$9.5K difference between a 132 Elegance and a TSI RS with DSG. I d guess more like AU$45K starting price for a TSI manual RS here.

Yes and the GTI costs 60K there, its a different market.

The RS won't be more expensive than the Golf GTI, they're doomed if it isn't cheaper by a good margin.

When you spec a 132 Elegance to the spec in the Australian advert, it comes to well over NZ$50K

    Hanging out for RS too

Read in the motoring section of the west Australia last Saturday that RS is being released on March 18.

Been reading a lot about the suspected price. I'm betting on the same price or slightly lower than the outgoing mk2.
