However, before receiving this very helpful advice I was searching the forum for information about sailing times and I came across the following post from GTR27; 05-09-2014:

"Edit: also, I'm writing a letter of complaint to Skoda about the poor updates/info available to customers, and the huge, massive blow outs in delays (like my order taking twice as long as originally quoted). I suggest all other frustrated owners also do the same. Skoda appears to be ignoring dealer feedback, so coming from customers will carry more weight"

GTR, can you or someone else please provide the an email address for Skoda Australia; I seem to recall someone had even found the email address for the Skoda Australia CEO. Like GTR before me, I would like to provide a complaint email to Skoda about the massive blow out and delays in delivery times. While I don't think my dealer has been a particularly strong advocate for us, I feel the problem rests more with Skoda Australia and hence I would like to lodge a complaint with them. Better than ranting here and boring all of you with my frustration in waiting so long for our new car. Ultimately, if we don't letter Skoda Australia know of our frustration and displeasure with the poor level of service, nothing is likely to change, despite the promise of increased supply. As they say, word of mouth is the best form of advertising. I don't think I can recommend a Skoda car to anyone unless there was a car that fitted their specifications sitting on a dealers lot.
Yes that was me. CEO didn't reply but put a firecracker into the dealer and area manager.

When I get home tonight I can pm the address. But "firstname.lastname@volkswagen.com.au" is how their email addresses work........

Tired of waiting for the dealer to call me. So i called Skoda Australia to confirm what my car actually comes with.

They were able to confirm that it does not come with a reverse camera or folding side mirrors. Double boo!!!

But at least i know now. Skoda Australia is contacting my dealer to get them to contact me to finalise details.

I also mentioned that i know someone who got an ambition+ with tech pack that came with camera built in Sept 14. I was told that the other octavias are built on a different production line than the RS. So i still miss out.

I then asked if i could order a genuine factory one and they said that it isnt sold seperately and has to be built in from the factory. So i mentioned an after market one and was advised that anything aftermarket voids the warranty of anything it connects to.

    +1

We're trying to find a car with an RVC, but it seems as though some have it and some don't...

I'm pretty sure you could install an OEM RVC camera. I test drove a few Octavias with RVC, at 2 different dealers last year. This was even before the tech-pack cars arrived in Australia.

The sales guy also mentioned they could fit the RVC on any RS at the dealer. It was pretty expensive, around $1.2k including installation if I could remember correctly.. . I'd just buy the part myself and DIY... and borrow somebody's VCDS cable

If anyone wants a manual RS Wagon there may be one available at Rockdale Skoda. See below for the recent post on the Skoda FB page.

How on earth does this happen so frequently?

After my phone call with Skoda Australia, the dealer finally rang me.

RS now in dealer showroom waiting for delivery. Sales rep has confirmed that there is NO RVC. So definitely need to look at the VAG OEM solution. The part that i have found is an Audi OEM part that is a direct fit. Exactly like the factory one. Just waiting for the dealer to pass on the contact details of the installer. As ive got plenty of questions regarding the exact install and product features. Mainly because with Audi when you turn the steering wheel the lines on the screen also turn. Also want to know if its all plug and play or if there is any cutting involved.

Can you pass the part number over? Interested I this. Mine being a my14 misses out on auto wipers, auto fold mirrors and rvc. But not sure if the diesel rs is supposed to have the car setup option where you change steering, noise and Eco mode. I just have a button for the stop start...

You sure you don't have auto wipers, as in rain sensing wipers? Those have been std in Oz for an RS for years.

The rain/light sensor is combined, so if you have auto lights, you will have auto wipers

Edit: as others have said you can buy the camera, install it then code it with a vcds cable. You won't get the turning lines as they are not offered on a Skoda. The camera is physically the same between cars though (software differences) any modifications, join briskoda forums and search/ask. So much knowledge there! Then share what you find there, here to enhance Aussie owners experiences

And the customer is a logistics manager - cruel irony
