Does anyone find it interesting that the CSC2 was superceded and production appears to have ceased for a fair while (and no stock available) and suddenly it's become very common as an OEM fitment?

I had them on my 2010, MY11 rs, and have them again on the new Octavia. They are a decent tyre with good grip levels, but wear strangely and become noisy with age. But better than the **** a lot of other manufacturers put on their cars. Would be great if they were csc5s instead or ps3s, but cost would be the driving factor in these. I bet they are getting them for a song.
2014 Skoda Ambition Plus 103TSI candy white wagon, 6sp Manual, Tech pack, Panoramic Sunroof, 18's, Colour Maxidot, Comfort BT
Ordered 07 May 14 (Wk 15), Built Wk 37, Loaded 27/9 (wk 39), Docked 12/11 (wk 46), DELIVERED! 12/12 (end of wk 50 - 7 months + 1 week).
Sure, they are a good tyre. I had them as OEM on mine too. Mine wore evenly and I got 45k but got noisy at <50% (but no worse than the RE050A I'm running at the moment).
It makes me think that they might have packed up the tooling and moved it somewhere with a cheaper cost base.
IIRC, Contis don't have the country of manufacture printed on them, just "Engineered in Germany" or similar. It would be interesting to see where they are made.

I've still got the Michelin PE2s at 65k wearing beautifully, no noise, still grip and still astounding me they have a reasonable amount of tread left. Being replaced with PS3s for sure, but wish the PS3s came stock on the new RS.

Woofy is talking about PE2 (Pilot Exalto). They were worth an arm & a leg from the tyre shops - a big surprise when the RS was coming standard with them. I don't believe they are available anymore.
I reckon the PSS is half a notch above the PS2 & the PS3 a fraction below the PS2 but I'd be happy with any of them on my car

Re read Woofy's quote and you are right, and indeed the PS3 is the direct replacement to the Pilot Exalto. As you say they are all high quality tyres and certainly much better than most tyres offered as std equipment. I am going with the PSS for a bit more traction and hoping to limit the axle tramp.

Yeah they were discontinued not long after we got our car. Most 2007/2008 cars came with them, the MY09s came with a mix of things, none of them as good. The offficial replacement is the PS3 which we got for a reasonable price for our 6, but the RS was double due to the weird size. The PE2s were available still from tirerack for a while but still around $400-500 each. If they existed still I would pay that, they were worth every cent. We will be selling our RS late this year so if we need to replace will just go PS3.
Just placed an order today and I am now joining the queue to wait for my car to get delivered!
