Japanese or Korean? I ask because the paint thickness and type is quite a bit different between euro cars and jap/Korean. None of my cars has ever had anything like that happen. Sounds like a paint fault?

All the TDIs have them. If the MK2 is an indication, they seem to fit them to the TSI engines on a whim.

My 1.8tsi didn't have one but I had one fitted "under warranty" as the vRS had them fitted (pre-FL Mk2). In both thepre-FL & FL model, some petrol engines had them & some didn't.

They are used mainly as a heat insulator to help the engine heat up quicker & retain heat but they also help insulate the bonnet paint from engine heat & provide a small level of sound insulation.

You can buy them from AliExpress for half the price of what they are in AU.

Nope, no pre FL RS Cars had them either. UK guys were putting them in. I didn't bother. The Diesel RS in late 2008 had them though. It was because people whined you couldn't hear the engine in the RS but didn't want to hear the diesel tractor.

Speaking of crazy, the wait for a new factoy order begins again. Hopefully the dealer is right and delivery will be end of Feb, so not too far away....

Couldn't source a car in the country? The ship carrying mine just landed, so there should be more stock at dealers. Maybe ask your dealer to search for stock and give a discount for screwing you around

Both Skoda Australia and the dealer searched high and low, but couldn't find an ambition plus WITH leather. The leather is a must, so hence a new order.

Compensation will be negotiated in due course, but will have to include a loan car as I've pretty much sold my current car (one car family).

You know the leather is partial only right?

As in its not the middle of the seats, just the side bolsters. It's not like an elegance leather.

Edit: not trying to poo poo your idea, but I also wanted leather, however was turned off by the partial leather. Especially at 1200 - seems kind of pointless! You could get after market REAL leather for ~2.5k, not pleather. Maybe it's an option?
