New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Odd question...but if you were given the choice between a new Octavia Ambition Plus wagon or Superb Ambition wagon, what would you choose and why?

I asked the supplier (UK) and they said to purchase from the US as its cheaper. You can get them from the US for about USD28 shipped. Bugger that the dollar has gone down though. Either way, I'm getting one, cause they look like they have good coverage of the rear area.

Cheers, they're 18" Geminis that come with the black pack option. Funny enough, I wasn't a fan of these rims judging from pics I have seen on the net when the RS was released but they do look much better in the flesh. I have seen the Audi S3 ones you mentioned and they are similar except the S3 rims look even better imo.

Question re PanoRoof, when you close it is it auto close and is there a hard cover that slide in its place? It must feel more spacious inside with PanoRoof open?


The car must be structurally stronger for the bracing required to install the PanoRoof?

Thanks Al. Yes it has an electrically operated block out blind that you can partially or fully close. Part of the reason I got the roof was to lighten up the dark interior but I almost decided not to tick that option box as I thought it might be a fair bit noisier not having roof insulation and lining. I've had the car up to 110kmh briefly today and must say how surprisingly smooth and quiet the RS is. Also, there's been a lot of criticism of the sound generator in sport mode on Briskoda but I (and my sons) found it a hoot when driving on winding back roads especially on the down shifts with the DSG. Although I wouldn't have it on when crusing on a freeway at 110km, I think it really adds a lot of character to the car.

The black RS looks fantastic, congrats!! I'm jealous with the flat bottomed steering wheels. The RS is one refine car.

Apparently modern station wagon car tend to have somewhat stronger body due to the four pillars bracing on each side of the car as opposed to three on the sedan counterpart. Not sure how true that fact is, but the RS wagon sure feel tight in the corner.

I would go the Octavia. My Superb was a hatch rather than a wagon (pre-dated the wagon), but also bought an Octavia hatch for my wife. I have just bought an RS wagon. It is difficult to sell a Superb (been trying to 6 weeks). The Octavia is a lot better size for general public and looks better. I loved my Superb, but regretted not getting an Octavia wagon.

I couldn't option the roof due to head space so I had to get a bright colour (race blue) to offset the dark interior. But the black looks nice.

Any report on the ride of the tyre wheel combo. I optioned the same but I do think he 19's look better, I just wasn't convinced I could live with them (ride, possibly weight, tyre $, extra to buy, etc).
