Every dyno chart I've seen on these engines shows more than 118kw ex-factory. 120-123kw seems to be the norm.

It would be interesting to see what changes (beyond software) were made to achieve 132kw & if they could be incorporated into the 118tsi.

There is a lot of changes under the hood, but the old 1Z 118tsi motor can easily be tuned to 140kw using a bluefin, apr etc. so I wouldn't be surprised if they can nudge the new one closer to 150.

Still I have my heart set on the vRS, it just has the extra dose of crazy

    New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Called into my brothers dealership (Newcastle Skoda) this morning to check out the new Octavia. They have the 1.4T, 1.8T and 2.0TDI in stock. I drove the 1.4T wagon elegance with tech pack, and a 2.0TDI sedan.

The 1.4T is a good little motor, but you can feel it struggles a bit with the weight of the wagon to pull around.

The 2.0TDI with its extra chunk of torque was much more efortless in lugging the car around, and was faster.

Unfortunately, the 1.8T car hadnt been pre-delivered yet, so i couldnt drive that one. I feel the 1.8T will be the engine you would want if you cannot afford the vRS.

Interiors and general build quality are fantastic, Skoda are getting so good these days. Lots of quirky interior features, like a bin in the drivers door, velcro stoppers for the boot (to stop your box of tools from sliding around) etc. there is also an insert for the cupholder which serves as a mobile phone holder. A reversable boot mat is also a great idea (carpet on one side, rubber boot liner on the other side).

Really nice cars - i hope they sell well.

Another batch of RS's have been loaded on the boats, with a total of 42 getting here by mid Jan, its kinda hard to believe they'll be holding out until March/April for the launch.

Anyone have any colour preferences yet? Can't say I'm fussed on Brilliant Silver. Not sure about Race blue.

I've only seen topaz brown (terrible) and brilliant silver (ok, shows the sharp lines well) but if I had to choose from the non-RS colours I'd think Moon White and Metal Grey would be the nicest.

So the vRS will have a 1.8 not a 2ltr?
