It was explained to me in this case the cars were not built to the Australian published spec. There are minor differences between the vehicles rushed out here for press/launch release duties and the vehicles being built to Aus spec in the new year.

I could have been fed a load of bull but a few facts remain. As it stands there are none of the halo $22990 models or any other non-DSG models in the country at the time of release. Not only that, being told an order for a standard vehicle might take 6 months to fulfil is not easy to digest.

There were cars like that on launch in 2007, it happens when they are still deciding what to do but need something physically here and have to order months in advance. My guess with the massive delay is the options/pricing were only decided very recently and until then there was no point ordering until last month in case they got it wrong. The first "customer" cars were probably only just recently ordered hence the long wait.

Is this true? We loved the heated seats in our Skoda, they were absolutely beautiful on cold Canberra mornings! My plans have always been to buy another one when I get back to Australian in 2015 but maybe not ...
