Bumped a month on original advice to a week 38 build, late November delivery. Will have to re-rego the ****box I'm driving now. Sigh.

Supply is appalling. Really shouldn't have gone to market with a product they didn't have access to.

I also have an update from my dealer today. Provisional build week 39. Ordered week 15. 24 ****ing weeks just for build. Appalling wait times. Anyone here for a longer time for an ambition+ or ambition? I think I'll have most rs owners beat for long wait.....

And this is why I can't be bothered with Skoda anymore. Everything is delayed, and thern delayed, and then delayed.

Meanwhile, my new car was ordered on sunday two weeks ago, and was delivered the following Friday. (Skoda quoted me 3 months on a new Rapid - and it only came as DSG so it was no.) Octavia was 3+ months for a manual wagon. Looking at these lead times, I made the right choice.

I believe that VW Australia is to blame here. In many markets around the world Skoda have eaten into VW market share. They have made Skoda a low priority in terms of import numbers in Australia. The long production delays and low stock are the reasons I didn't end up purchasing an Octavia. I still think Skoda makes a great car which is why I ended up buying a Superb.

The only reason I have stuck it out is is simply the best car by a long margin for that price. Best equipment levels, most space, good to drive, gutsy, good on fuel (without being diesel). Base model Mazda 6 which is smaller is 38-39k and has less kit.... Can't get it in manual either. Can't get a Mondeo in manual (and it's a 6yo car now). Commodore is nice, but heavy (in comparison) on fuel and lacks the gadgets. Renault gt220 is nice to drive, but smaller and basic inside. And more expensive.

If you can wait, it's an easy choice. But the wait is impossible for most people.

    XV 2.0i-L Black Edition.

Possibly the wrong car for this forum, certainly the wrong brand and style for other forums.

Superb is replaced in June next year.

Agree with pretty much all that. I don't mind to wait for new cars but the uncertainty is probably going to push me elsewhere.

I have sigs turned off on forums. I get sick of the sigs being bigger than the post.

Subaru XV... is it as gutless as they say? (I really like the shape & concept - esp in Orange)

    Fair enough - no problems.

I don't think it is. Coming from the 2005 2.5, it only has 2 kw less, and about 20nm less torque (which in the real world doesn't feel any different - the 2.5 wasn't a torquey engine). Reviews claimed the CVT was the better choice whereas I found the manual was. Comparing it to the 2x 90TSi engined cars I drove (Golf and Rapid), and the Focus (Sport, with the 125kw 2.0 PowerShift), it doesn't feel gutless either.
