Newbie here. I've been trawling for info about the RS since we were deciding between this and an Audi - more than likely - and the decision has been difficult. Finally decided to pursue a TSI DSG with most of the options and i was getting the feeling my dealer was overestimating the delivery on orders after reading a bit on Briskoda/etc. Have been getting more and more worried about the impending purchase after getting excited about the car after reading the last 100 pages of this thread this morning.
To the point: i decided to check with Skoda Australia directly on order turnaround times as the dealer was adamant it would be December/Jan if i ordered now. Skoda says differently - April would be a good outcome, and likely far further forward than that. I see no reason why the logistics people would say that unless it was very likely the case. That is some way to stop someone ordering a car. No way are we waiting 9 or 10 months for a car simply because we want some options. Sounds like Skoda has some serious issues or they don't give a stuff about our market at all.
Anyway, hope this helps someone who might actually need a car relatively quickly. Also, i feel for people who in the past month have made an order as i can't see how they would possibly get their car before February if the pattern holds. We all know that some dealers (in certain situations) will say whatever they can to get the sale, so check with Skoda yourself if you have doubts like i have had. I would really, really love to get this car, but seriously....i cannot get my missus to agree to that wait....
