New Octavia ....when? How Much?

The only thing that kept me from moon white was long term scratch/chip repair. Being a metallic its much harder to paint match. I plan on keeping the skoda a long time so being able to get dints/scratches/chips repaired and colour matched easily is more important than the 'extra nice' paintwork. Dont plan on having it happen but i know from experience others dont care (i.e shopping centre carparks) so being able to repair is important.

Ask a vehicle spray painter what they think of metallic/pearl whites - they hate them ! Even more difficult to match than other metallics apparently...

My dealer has called me to come in and check the latest Yeti they've received as it has come in the Dark Grey metallic that I've ordered my RS Combi in!

We just scratched the tailgate on our garage door, proper high impact contact on our Candy White Octavia. Amazed at how thick and tough the paint is, much stronger than my other metallic cars. Was able to buff out the scratches which was hard work and the paint chipped spot is white so you can't see it, not sure if they use white undercoat.

Vw group cars have incredibly hard,thick paint. Another reason i chose one

Was informed that a Dark Grey Metallic example had come into the dealership... On a Yeti.

The color is more Greeny-Grey but not a dark grey like previously. It's different and am contemplating over night and will check it properly tomorrow.

For the night - I have a Octavia RS lift back to test drive... DSG. It has 6 gears NOT 7!!! (Is that right?)

Drove it around and to a few jobs/events. I'm a photographer so I drive all the time. Car seems very light. Steering is good and when you pick up speed the steering wheel tightens... This model doesn't have the MODE button as it's an early model to Aus.. My RS will.

Bi-Xenons are amazing. Interior is perfect! Centre console has a lot of buttons but I'm not familiarizing the car too much until I get my own! lift back shape is pointless to me. Rather the wagon which I've ordered. Car has grunt, I can tell you that! Over taking or under taking works great. Have to get use to the size of the car as I currently drive the new shape VW Polo GTI.

Yes, the 7-speed in Octavias is only in the ones with less torque (under 250 Nm). The 6-speed can handle the torque of the RS petrol and diesel variants.

Thank you to you both. 1. for the DSG info... so this 6spd DSG in the RS is more reliable then the 7spd I have in my current gen Polo GTI (6R)?

2. Yes, I'm going to check the Yeti tomorrow with my other half - see what she thinks of it in person...

It might grow on me but the white RS i have tonight.... well I love it.

Yes the RS has the 6 speed wet DSG, same as the GTI/R and the Diesel Golf/Octavia. Wet DSGs are much more reliable by design compared to the dry ones.
