Updated mine yesterday. No problems so far.

I extracted the file to 2 folders - then tried removing all the useless countries we are forced to d/l and only leaving data for Aus, but the update failed to work, so I used the original full d/l to install to the car.

VW - please listen to your customers. Aussies DO NOT need maps for anywhere other than Australia. Middle Eastern, South African, even New Zealand, are useless to us, and forces us to d/l GIGS of extra maps when we don't need it.

Why don't you have a simple tickbox arrangement on your website, so we can select the individual countries (or continents) we want to d/l maps for.

So I've visited the dealers last week and they said I would need to pay $150 to put my car back in the system for the map updates. I generously declined as I've used the sat nav once in the 3 months of owning the car, and that was just to test it against Google Maps.

Does anyone regularly use it in car sat nav when Google Maps / Waze is clearly better and now easier to use with Apple Carplay / Android Auto? My car doesn't even have Carplay/Auto and I still rather use my phone.

i regularily use the car sat nav cause i can't b bothered most times hooking up the usb cable, selecting data mode on the phone, opening smartlink, selecting android auto, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, then open google maps, then use google assistant or type a destination in!!!

the only advantage google maps has over the car sat nav is live traffic and temporary road closures - none of which is an issue here in sleepy canberra.
waze i find more useful with the police/hazard reports, but too cartoon-eee.
i much prefer google maps than waze, but its a shame google maps doesn't show speed limits.

i've loaded Personal POIs in my car sat nav - so i get mobile/fixed speed cameras warnings/displays.
less hassle, and does the job 99% of the time.
plus i get turn-by-turn navigation in between the speedo/tacho

I have been able to successfully update the Sat Nav also to P76 ROW 2019.
The above download is now available on the ŠKODA update portal; Update portal

Agree with everything you've said, but how did you do the POI's?

I've done it previously from another member here (or elsewhere) who created files, but they weren't too accurate, so disabled them again.
Where do you get the appropriate files for Aussie speed/red-light cameras?

the POIs i got are accurate, atleast here in Canberra.
i think i still have the zip file on my laptop at home. if i find it, i can share it with u.
its quite comprehensive, with petrol stations, shops, restaurants, mobile speed camera locations etc etc.

I'd definitely be interested in this, if you don't mind sharing with us?

Can you confirm that you are able to turn off particular types of POIs, after installing?
ie: mobile speed camera locations are pointless, as the name suggests - they're mobile, not static, so presumably those POIs can be de-selected?

this is the POI i loaded - u can download it here.
instructions are in the read file inside the zip.

with regards to turning on particular POI types - u certainly can.
i have the mobile speed camera turned off, for example. as u say, this not static.
