Yes, the hardware and software versions of the Columbus unit. You said "I understand there firstly was a software update where they had to link to the techo's at Skoda HO" so I presumed that meant the Columbus unit. I think the latest software version for your unit is 490 according to UK forums. The MY16 cars (like mine) have a different number series (mine is 0318 from memory but more recent cars have 0702). I'm just trying to piece together what Skoda/VW are up to, for my own interest.

I bet you're happy about that! Just remember that the download is large and the servers are pretty flaky - the downloader program for Windows is pretty good but I've still seen it fail once of twice.
Logically, for the portal to now show files for your VIN the dealer must have a facility to update records of your car that the portal looks at. Just updating the software/firmware wouldn't do it.
FYI there is one version after 0371 for the MIB1 units, 390 (not 490 as I said yesterday): Latest software version for Columbus MIB1? - Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 onward) - BRISKODA
My MY15 Skoda Octavia Elegance has updated Maps!!
Thought I'd put all my ramblings over the last few pages all together in one post.
Many, if not all, MY15 owners have never been able to update the Navigation Maps. I've been hassling Skoda HO for 18 mths trying to get the issue resolved and finally the great day came.
Last Tuesday, I took my vehicle to Brisbane City Skoda ... they had it for approx 6 hrs & when I picked it up, no longer was ROW2014 showing, but ROW2016/2017 (believe these to be the June2016 update). Excellent. I understand they did some hardware & software updates on the Columbus System (via their techo's at Skoda HO in Sydney), & then loaded the maps via the SD card.
Every time I'd accessed the Skoda Update Portal during the previous 18 mths using my VIN it would either show ROW2014 available or nothing at all.
On Wednesday when I entered my VIN, it displayed MRM2017 was available to download, which i did.
Downloading took approx 24 hrs!! (our internet is 271 kps) .... Unpacking after download took approx 90 mins.
Updated the Columbus via SD card this morning .... took about 40 mins and version now shows ROW2017 with the Update Portal now showing next update due in May 2017.
It's a great day!

Great news for the rest of us stuck on ROW2014. I'll have to check the portal myself and grab the iso. Thanks for the update!

Is this some sort of a joke or for real? Thank goodness I wasn't sitting down when I read the last few posts as I would have fallen off my chair . So now they update the maps when I have decided to part with my RS!
Jokes apart - well done to Skoda for taking this seriously and resolving it. It left quite a bunch frustrated for too long.
Anyone in Melbourne successfully updated maps on their MY15 cars through their local dealer?
Having some dramas getting mine to work.
I have downloaded the update. Placed it on sd card. Placed it in the unit. Gone to system info and hit update. It searches for a while then says error no software found. Am I meant to do something with the file befor placing on the card?
Have you unzipped the update, it normally comes in as a zip file and you need to unzip to the root directory of the SD card.
