New Nav map available in Skoda update portal

I have been downloading the map update from the portal since last night, and still have 8.5 hours to go!

I'm surprised I even have an update available. It is the MRM 2016/2017 update that others on the forum alluded to earlier, even though my current map is ROW.

I hope the actual update process in the car doesn't take hours. How is it healthy to have your car idle for that long?

Hi ddizzle, which model year is your car? It seems that MY16 have available map updates but earler don't.

I got a bit annoyed by the time in the car itself so I would recommend starting the car and going for a 40min drive while it does its thing. The download took forever and I have 115Mbits at home.

Got my maps updated and it indeed takes about 40 mins.

Spoke to Skoda the other day and was told there was a "Major" announcement/upgrade coming very soon. We shall see.

A couple of weeks ago I was told by a dealer that if I waited until the new year (I told him I wasn't purchasing immediately) that there would be a 5 year warranty from then. Not sure if we'd call that 'major' but I can see that the marketing department would be excited.

I fully expected that they would have 5 yrs warranty before I bought my recent one. I suspect if the GFC hadn't hit it would have appeared way back. When I bought in 2008 there wasn't even an option to pay to get 5yrs.

Update - well not really and it sucks!!

After a call from the dealership to bring my car in sometime to get the update, I took my car in yesterday and waited 3.5 hours for them to apply an update. Well at the end of it, all I have is nothing in terms of map update. The version on my car is still showing ROW 2014/2015. The job sheet that was emailed to me later on says what they've done is - Function Clearing.

Does anyone know what that means? I've held up well despite being very pissed off that the time, and I've emailed the dealership and my VW case manager asking where things are.

Also, any of you guys/girls have an update to share re. this debacle?

Pretty sure if they have smart minds to write emissions cheat codes, they'd be able to crack a simple problem like map updates?? Over a year and counting....
