I did mine over the weekend too. It took about 40 minutes to update using a Class 10 Sandisk SD card. I left the ignition on, ignoring the warning beeps when I opened the door. As the website says, I tried to minimize the power being used during the process as the engine wasn't running. The only thing left on was the DRLs - but they're LED so shouldn't draw too much power?

Anyway, I took before and after pictures of the System Version screen. It went from:

    0055 2016 ROW 2016 Australia
    to
    0058 ROW 2016/2017 Australia 2016/2017

This was on an April 2016 build RS delivered last month. Looking at the files in the update, the Australia directories had files dated Dec 2015 to January 2016.

I went ahead and downloaded the latest GPS download file even though it had the same file name as the one from the first half of the year.

The contents of the latest GPS download are identical to the one earlier in the year.

Hopefully the next download in May 2017 will be an actual update...... before my ability to download them expires.

It's pretty frustrating because the Update Portal still says the next map update is due in November 2016 but when I put my VIN in it then says next update May 2017 even though the recent download is the same as the June one...

The update portal is finally offering a new download 'MRM 2017' -the file is HIGH12_P62_MRM_2017. It hasn't finished downloading yet so I haven't checked any date stamps on files.

Confirmed I'm also seeing the new download 'MRM 2017' in the update portal

Also looks like they have increased the bandwidth for us Aussies finally, getting about 700 kbps atm compared to the last update I was getting 300 - 350 kbps, still going to take 10 hours though

I downloaded the file (previous version) onto my PC, which doesn't have an SD card slot - planning on unzipping it to have a look at the files, before transferring by USB stick to my laptop which has an SD slot.......

The file refuses to allow me to unpack the zip file, because it's not on an SD card (or some similar error message)

    Any ideas?

You should be able to unpack it to a USB and stick the USB in the car and update it off the USB. It should work.

It sounds like you're using the Skoda downloaded application the website provides. If so, just Quit/Exit the program, it should leave the ZIP file where you told it to download to. Then just use Windows itself to extract the zip file.
