The difference is whether a stock vehicle ordered by a dealer would have it on.

Anyway, I HAVE NOT seen a manual RS with the same MFSW as the DSG, except for the paddles obviously.
(So it has the stereo controls on the left of the wheel, and the phone controls on the right.)

But you can have the other steering wheel design with the four spokes with the MFSW features as found on the base models...go figure!!??

But if you want the RS sporty steering wheel, then it is buttonless...

I just looked online at at least 15 examples to confirm this...
I have ordered my vehicle built from factory still waiting on build date, I spoke to the dealer again yesterday about this issue. He confirmed through his dealership and Skoda Aus that I cannot option any other MFSW on my manual vRS, he was quite sure of that point. I would like to be wrong on this though!

Well i can confirm my MY11 vRS doesnt have any MFSW. AFAIK its not an option on the manual models.

Its not that much of an issue for me: the indicator stalk controls you can change stations and answer the phone (using the enter button) and dial from the phonebook (I have a Dension gateway 5).

The only time i need to look at the head unit is to turn up the volume and do that without taking my eyes off the wheel.

Ok, I finally got to test drive a manual RS TSI today. Very very smooth gear box indeed. Gear ratios definitely different to the VW Tiguan (obviously being an SUV) and nowhere near as clunky as the VW Tiggy box. Very smooth, although I do miss the short 1st gear the VW Tiguan has as it threw you back a lot more being a much shorter 1st gear ratio.

As for the MFSW, every other manual Skoda (Octavia, Scout, Fabia, Yeti) comes with a MFSW EXCEPT the RS!!! What the!!! Dealer enquired with Skoda Australia about if you factory order your car (which looks like I will be doing) then can we option the MFSW. Skoda Aus couldn't answer this (contrary to the post above....so one of our dealers is telling a porky!!) so they are going to enquire with Skoda tonight and see what/if MFSW can be done.

LOL....this is the car I test drove today. And I can tell you, the price they had in the window of this car was not $36,985. It was $43k+!!!

Funny thing was, as we're cruising down the Gateway, the dealer starts telling me how easy it is to chip these cars and I should consider it.......WOW.....never thought I'd hear a dealer telling me that when I'm taking the car for a test drive!!!

    Its black and white.

    The Aussie options are:
    Manual with no MFSW.
    Auto (DSG) with MFSW.

You can add a MFSW to the manual, by way of purchasing a new steering wheel & MFSW control box, and getting it coded.
Thats the only way you can do it.

Just trying to end the speculation here. :p

As above, there is no mystery to it, from the day they were launched here that is how it was. The MFSW in fact only came in late 2008 when the DSG came, before that there wasn't even a choice for it.

When its all said and done, hopefully they bring it in for manuals with the next model, but its not that bad really, it only seems bad if you had a car before it and miss it. I drive a Santa Fe now that has buttons galore but would gladly take my buttonless RS back anyday (if my wife wasn't driving it).

    +1
One of my previous vehicles was a 2010 Sorento - basically the same as your SantaFe.
Steering wheel was awesome, and had excellent buttons etc... But the RS TDI is just in another league to the R2.2

Guys - i wouldnt bet on your factory ordered manual vRS arriving with a multi function steering wheel. My brother works for Skoda and recently took delivery of his own vRS that he custom ordered earlier in the year. He is the manager of the dealership and had the privelidge of ordering his own car via the Skoda ordering system.

One option he wanted was the roof lining finished in Alcantara. This was listed as being a Skoda factory order option for a cost of $500. He confirmed this was ok with both Skoda Aust as well as with the Skoda factory in the Czech Republic when he placed his own order for his car.....he followed it up multiple times as his car progressed in the ordering system. Guess what, the car tuned up with the normal fabric roof lining. He was well and truly pi$$ed off about this, especially seeing it had been confirmed by the factory and was listed on the build sheet/order sheet.

So even a Skoda employee (salesman/manager), who followed it up more than normal still got ignored with his custom request.

As mentioned above, if you want the multi function steering wheel, your best bet would be to purchase the wheel from an online shop and fit it yourself. Many of the Golf guys have done this (eg fitting a GTI or R steering wheel to a lesser model Golf).
