And describes the adapative cruise control we discussed a couple of days ago.
Some of the features such as the flashing brake lights would probably be illegal in some states. I think Victoria changed their rules some time ago to allow brake lights that get brighter as you press harder but I'm not sure flashing lights would be legal at this stage.
I wonder how good the sign cameras will be with Australian signs. I suspect that it won't know what a Koala symbol saying next 10km means.
the good thing is Australia follows EU safety closely, so those laws may change soon as more cars are delivered with those features.
flashing indicators and brake lights are available now in our cars, just not turned on.
Drifting slightly off-topic, aftermarket brake lights that fitted inside the rear window (usually one either side) were a popular accessory in the eighties before high mounted central brake lights became standard. Some versions flashed when the brakes were applied, but these didn't stay around for very long, probably because (I believe) they were/are illegal in NSW.
When I was riding around Europe back in 1985 on my then brand new BMW K100RS, most drivers would switch their hazard lights on if they pull up quickly at the back end of a traffic snarl on a motorway - pretty handy when confronted with a wall of traffic at 160+ km/h on a German autobahn! I think a lot of European vehicles now include automatic hazard light activation when the brakes are applied heavily.
Definitely loving the look of the new Octavia! I'm a big fan of the clean, uncluttered style.

The New Octavia Combi: Space at its finest - Ĺ*KODA
Looks good in my opinion...a few nifty features too
"In addition to the features in the new Octavia hatch.....the new Combi has other new smart solutions on board: examples include the coat rack or the remote fold-down function for the rear-seat backrest. The folding passenger seat makes transporting very long objects much easier. There is space for a luggage compartment rollo cover and roof bars under the adjustable and retractable variable boot floor. "
"Also to be seen first at Geneva 2013: the ŠKODA Octavia Combi 4×4 with a newly developed all-wheel drive and 5th-generation Haldex clutch."
Mmmm, wouldn't that be nice in a vRS version!
