    Mysticality's Timeline

I figured it was about time I did one of these.

    Date: 23/12/11.
    Odo: 59km

I packed up the troopers (Train & Tardis) and waited the sales guy's arrival... It was a depressing affair.

Then we convoyed to Moss Vale, where she was waiting!...

I embarked on a photoshoot that very same day.

Apart from LED's in the roof lights (came out of the old cars) nothing much else happened, until...

HID's!... Man, what a tale that turned out to be.

Apparently you have to enable HID's with VCDS. Of course, I didn't have access to VCDS, and coming out of Kia (with a more basic, less computery electrical system) I figured "what the hell" and went along with it anyway.
    Bad move, of course.
She blew a Body Control Module. And then another, and then another...
The third one turned out to work perfectly!

The 3rd Body Control Module died - HID's again! *eventually* replaced under warranty... But then the new one (4th) wouldn't talk to the computers at the dealership, so they couldn't code my keys! I had to operate the locks with the key itself, like a heathen!
The dealership replaced the 4th BCM with a 5th one, everything has been working perfectly since.

    Date: 17/05/12

Mounted a double 12v power point and had it wired. Basically hardwired the Galaxy Tab mounting off of it. All the cabling is hidden behind the panel on the end of the dash.

Finally got around to tinting the grille with Nightshade. The effect was amazing, if only I didn't do such a dodgy job with the taping off...

Bought and mounted my UHF and 3G aerials; mounted and wired up the 40ch UHF radio with external speaker!

Mounting the external speaker was the most interesting part... Right underneath the steering column. Watching someone try and find where the sound is coming from is hilarious.

Bought a 22" LED light bar... Then tried to mount it. Went through about 6 different drill bits, only the 4mm actually made a hole.
Got fed up with it and just took it to an auto electricians.
The bloke told me it took him two hours, and a $300 drill bit set to get the 10mm holes in the front bumper brace... Drilling out 6mm, 8mm and finally 10mm... That must be some hilariously tough steel!! :p

Mounted an audio pass-through for the tablet... So I can lie back and Skype, or watch Youtube, or generally do tabletty things whilst waiting for my next job - when its not feasible to just drive home then go back. (E.G. When in Hornsby, or Penrith)

Finally got around to installing the amp and sub I had lying around for a few weeks!

Was a bit of an awful job... Ended up pretty much tearing the entire rear end of the car to bits... But worth it.
Especially with the LOC in the top of the right hand covered storage compartment, both L&R speaker channels going through it to the amplifier which is on the opposite side, and then to the speaker which is back on the right again! The only real bit of wire showing is the wire going to the sub... Which is like that so its removable, if I need the cargo space!

Replaced the UHF whip with an el-cheapo fibreglass Supercheap Auto one!... 7.5dB and like 3.5ft long.
Also replaced the GME TX3440 with an Oricom UHF280!

That was also the day that my Lumia 920 active/antenna car cradle arrived, as well as two Strike glass-mount dual whip aerials!

    Date: 12/02/13

Mounted the Lumia 920 car cradle and wired it up to the large white fibreglass whip, and power! It works a treat.

Got the front windscreen replaced due to it having a MASSIVE crack running right down the middle. Bloody stone chips...

Also got to finally mount my three glass-mount aerials. Two that sit on the front windscreen (work phone and Telstra 4G WiFi hotspot) and one tiny little internal one on the rear window, passengers side (secondary aerial for the WiFi hotspot)
I reckon its kinda cool that the little glass mount ones have a second, shorter whip.

Something like $10 off eBay, with a 2 week delivery time from China. (But worth the wait)

Had my 75,000km service today. Cost me (in total, including $10 fuel for the loan car - an old, scary, 550,000km Volvo S40 2.0T) $353.50. Not bad, I reckon.

Vinyl wrap stage 1 of 3!!

It rained on the way home...

The finish is perfect, the cutting lines are... Perfect. The entire job is well worth the $300 I paid.
There's a two year warranty on any bubbling/lifting, but I doubt I'll need it.

Onwards to 'V-Dubs in the Square'!!

    My order arrived from SuperSkoda!

    What you see here:
89 Euro real carbon fibre mirror caps; vRS front grille badge with bolts (not glue); Mk3 "Octavia" badge; Mk3 "TDI" badge; Mk3 "vRS" badge; Porsche OEM coolant cap from Lucas_R's group buy!
The Porsche OEM oil cap doesn't fit the TDI engine.

    Coolant cap installed

Included glue for the CF mirror caps

    CF mirror caps installed!!

Now I just need to work out if I want to say "vRS", "TDI", "vRS TDI" or "TDI vRS"
    Decisions, decisions!!

    SuperSkoda LED numberplate lights arrived.

They were extremely easy to install - not quite as easy as plug and play, but pretty much.
I removed the rear boot lining for the best outcome.

    Old vs. New

The inside of the boot of the wagon. If you trace the wiring back from the LED units, you can see the plugs and the hardwired resistors.

Finally got around to debaging the rear...

    And then rebadging it!

Also finally got to bolt on my new front vRS badge... Because the old one looked horrible under the plastidip.
Contrasts well with the black, I reckon!

I bought a BSI torque mount insert on special from DubAddiction, for around $25, including delivery.
It arrived on the 30th of April, so the next day I was off to Matt at Camden GTI to get it installed!!

After a load of BS, and stuffing around, they finally got it in and I started it up for the first time.
The rattling was horrible, like a race car at idle but the moment you blip the throttle it completely went away... I took it for a test drive just to see what would happen.

The difference was night and day. Zero axle tramp, so much quicker off the line and cornering on throttle was no longer an issue, even with the next-to-useless $89/ea tyres!!
Although I reckon the BP ultimate diesel has something to do with power too.

I told Matt I'd be in the next day (02/05/13) to get it taken out... But after doing 500km on the 1st for work, it settled down and isn't nearly as bad now.
Now I'm at over 82,000km and I love it.

I thought I should get some low, so I did. With a little help, of course.

    Cheers, Martin!!
