    The 'CANbus error free' lights I got look the part but car detects bulb out. I don't want to add inline resistors so am happy to put up with the errors until I get a proper replacement. The ones I have now work fine in a MkV Golf, and in my previous A3 but newer cars seem to be more sensitive...
    What about this one? Original license plate light 1K8943021C LED for VW, Skoda, Audi, Porsche | eBay it could be worth to ask this seller a question. I bought from him parking sensors.

    I think I'm gonna go with the ones listed in GTI Dave's build thread.
    MTC, or something.
    $70 but they have all the LED's and are VW originals, as I recall.

    AFAIK, you can't alter the shape of the HID bulb much, if at all.
    Would probably be best to phone up a Philips rep, or something.

    As we have projectors, its not too big a problem, though.

    Oh, and be wary of puddles. Like, huge ones. They'll fog up the inside of your lens.

    Hey Mysticality,

    Nice thread!

    Just want to confirm that you have a standard HID kit (not one with the CANBUS module built inline) and when installed there was no error codes??

    Reason I ask is I too have an old 4300k kit from my Subaru that I could use.

    Cheers....

    There is probably enough current draw to fool the system into thinking there is a halogen globe drawing power

    if in doubt, get a 55w HID kit

    @Cranks-
    Yeah. Bog standard eBay $60 HID kits. No error codes.
    I'm not actually sure that the Octy even HAS front bulb error codes. I know it does for the indicators (detailed in a previous post), but not for the headlights.

    @zei20t-
    I'm actually running 35W low beam and 35W high beam bulbs with 55W ballasts.
    I know, its not exactly the right thing to do, but its the only one I had on hand. Am currently a quarter of the ways through the ordering of some 35w ballasts. Damn this chinese shipping time... 6wks. Oh, well. Its free...

    @tooch-
    You mean yellow bulbs in the stock fog reflector?
    Was considering this myself, but need to find a reseller first.
    ... Actually, should first work out what kinda whacky bulb goes in there. Probably HB3 or something ridiculous.

    Thats an excellent idea.

    I'll pop down to my local window tinting specialist and ask him if he can do a yellow tint on the fogs.
    Will post approx. price.

    Think I might give this stuff a go Small 4" x 8" Universal Fog Covers

    Cheap enough, looks easy to install, and can be easily removed if I f*ck it up
