Thanks for the additional info guys.

With the research I've seen there seems to be a few minor go-fast bits with new interior and exterior features.

Like anything it's personal preference and will need to be justified in person.

Keen to hear your thoughts on major differences between the 169 and 245.

I'm also looking at the hatch/sedan model.

Thanks for sharing that Car Advice link, can't believe I missed that!

I'm in the exact same scenario as you, not knowing which model to go with.

I am leaning towards the facelift RS 169 model to have the extra little new features and slight performance upgrade, but then there's the 245...argh! MY17 vs MY18 Facelift Octavia RS

The 245 I'd say will hit over $50K once you add the optional packs plus on roads.
Someone in AuSkoda pre-ordered a RS169 wagon fully-option @ $53k DA in VIC so I am pretty sure the RS245 will be more than that.

Not surprised by that price... but it does come with some good improvements over the previous/current(?) model. I'd love the DCC and the bigger screen but still still prefer the 'old' front end. In the end I'm really happy with what I got for what I got, just need to add a few more touches to it but I'll pester you guys on different threads when I pick the car up!

Just to save confusion though - we probably should get out of the habit of comparing the models as 162, 169 then 230 & 245. The numbers have different meanings, and so it's easy to get trapped in the mindset that a 245 is 1.5x the power of the original TSI 162!

The marketing people at Skoda I'm sure have done this deliberately as a psychological trigger for people to spend the extra money on the "much more powerful 245 model" !!!

The TSI 169 is the RS230..... The TSI 162 that I have is the RS220, even though nobody ever really calls it that.
    The RS245 is..... TSI 180.

To mess it up more, the RS245 is the New RS230, Black bits standard/Diff
Where as the RS169 is the New RS162, stock + options

I was very keen for DCC, but really, its something else to go wrong, and the ride isnt too bad, Ive replaced the Rear sway bar with something more stiff and is fine. But would be nice to go stiff for track sessions with DCC. But if your paying another 10k for just the DCC, prob a waste and could get something way better after market with that sort of money.
Bigger screen, current one is fine tbh, BSM: would be nice, but we all know how to do a head check.

    I paid a lost less than 53k for a Real RS230...

A sway bar is in the cards for me at some stage if only to help a bit with understeer... I only had a 15min test drive before signing the papers and I can already tell the front tires won't last very long in this car hahaha No tricky diff for me though. Wonder if it could be retrofitted...

Black Wagon. I wanted the blue or the silver but the black looked really good in person... I swore black cars off after having a black ute a few years back but I guess I'm not a man of my word hahaha It will be painful trying to keep it looking good. Time to invest on some good wax I suppose.

To be honest there's not a color available I wouldn't have either, gf really like the grey one but they only had a sedan with no options and I was pretty set on getting the wagon anyway.
