I wonder how easy these are to source/retrofit afterwards, to a 2017 model?

I assume blindspot monitoring just uses the existing parking sensors, to display a little orange light in the mirror? So presumably the cabling/programming is already in the car? Just plug in the mirrors and it will work?

Lights can be changed for LEDs with aftermarket parts.

Blind spot monitoring and LED lights etc. are nice, but you have to weigh up if they are likely worth the difference you will pay, plus 6 months waiting for a MY18.

If you look at the deal CCPL got, that same spec car would be $51,590DA for a MY18, so you would be paying best part of $8k for the additional features on the MY18.

We paid $47k drive away for the same specs, less comfort pack but including auto tailgate and a 5 year service pack (I think only having on Skoda dealer in SA with stock hurt a little, but I’m still really happy).

Well done mate, that's a great deal! When do you get to pick it up?
I guess it boils down to whether one needs the car right now or can afford to wait as well. Skoda may run the same runout/promotional rates for the facelift sometime next year as well. Up to anyone's guess that is.

Having said that, 10% off RRP DA price for the MY17 Wagon is pretty good deal for one who can forgo all the items that comes with the FL.

BSM doesn't use the parking sensors. It has seperate higher powered version for that functionality. They are also used for cross traffic alert.

Why do you need LED headlights if you have HIDS?

As above, I wouldn't worry about changing anything. BSM actually scares me, as I've been in limos/taxis where the driver has said he forgets to do head checks in the cars he drives without them, that's all we need is people no longer looking at all

Hey mate, I saw this the other day...

Skoda Octavia RS245 in Australia from November, 2018 VW Polo due first quarter – UPDATE

I'm also trying to figured whether I should get a MY17 or even an ex demo MY16 and save some coin or go for a MY18. Spoke to a dealer today and he said he'll have one early next week the latest... Only thing I didn't quite like was that he told me the seats now are either full leather (extra) or half leather half alcantara. And if you ever had a car with alcantara anything you know those do not age very well at all...

    Hey mate

Thanks for sharing that Car Advice link, can't believe I missed that!

I'm in the exact same scenario as you, not knowing which model to go with.

I am leaning towards the facelift RS 169 model to have the extra little new features and slight performance upgrade, but then there's the 245...argh! MY17 vs MY18 Facelift Octavia RS

The 245 I'd say will hit over $50K once you add the optional packs plus on roads.

Unfortunately I think it will actually go for more than that... dealer said "RS169 starting at around 45k for the wagon". I'm sure there's some negotiating room and being a 'new model' doesn't help but I reckon RS245+packages and you might be in the mid 50s at this rate

I pre ordered a RS230, and was just under 50k, RS245 will be over 50k easy!

Yup, spoke to a dealer he said the same thing... I ended up biting the bullet and getting a MY17 with 6000km with everything except Comfort pack. Couldn't really justify the extra 12-15K the new one would cost me in the end. Will put that extra money to good use though!

Anyone in Sydney recommends a place where I should get my Skoda serviced? I was using our local Midas for the old car without a problem but it was a Mazda not sure if the Skoda will need anyone a bit more aware of its needs.
