    MY15 VRS rough idle

I'm just after a count on how many people have noticed a rough idle especially when cold. Its minor but I'm pretty sure its missing every now and then. I have mine booked in next week to have it checked I will let you know what they come back to me with. No its not the AC kicking in and out I have checked that.

Mine has rough idle. Switching the A/c on actually smoothed out the idle.

*Puts hand up* I made a video about it. No audio but you can see it dropping and when it does you can feel it.

Anyway, I have spoken to my mechanic about it and he says a lot of the newer Euros run like this on idle as they are using the minimum fuel needed to turn over for emissions.

But I will be interested to see what you find out for sure. Ifs it is an issue that needs to be looked at I would rather it be under warranty.

Also another thing to note is the choke always drops the RPM very quick after you turn it on so there is not much of a warm up compared to older cars where it can be on high idle for a good few minutes before dropping down to 500rpm or so.

    Anyway..

My MkII (MY11) vRS idles fine from cold, but my wife's A1 runs like a hairy goat first thing in the morning! It does seem to smooth out OK though, but not sure how long that process takes. Her A1 is about a year younger than my Octy, so maybe the fuel metering across VAG engines changed a little in that time?

The idle on my Octy does drop pretty quickly too after start up, pretty much by the time I've backed out of the garage, closed the roller door and locked it (hand operated door!) the idle has dropped to about the 500 rpm mark.

Wow my needle doesn't move around like that, you can barely just feel something with mine. I would definitely get yours checked.

That's because the AC "requests" more rpm at idle.

crickey - mine doesn't drop that low to 500 rpm.
it drops down to 700-800 rpm, and usually takes about 30 secs from cold startup.

Take the 500 rpm I mentioned with a grain of salt, it was a guesstimate based on knowing it's somewhere between 0 and 1000 rpm! It probably is about 700 rpm as you say. I'm going to have to check it now...

No rough riding (whoops - idling) here. All smooth so far.

I have been taking notice of mine lately and it has been pretty good. A lot better than when I first got it. 3000KM on it now.
