Hi,
Is there any truth to the rumour that all MY11 Octavia (standard and RS) will come with SATNAV as standard. MY11 apparently commences with June 2010 build. Are any of the dealers aware of this?

Oh awesome! I must admit that is quite an unusual move, especially for the base Octavia, starting at $25k, but whatever they want it sure adds alot of value! But could they PLEASE make the 17-inch alloys standard on mid-spec (2.0TDI/1.8TSI) models, makes them look so much better (for what is a $1k option too)!
I remember my dealer complaining about the prices being too high and he said that a fix was on it's way, maybe this is it? This, I feel, is where Skoda takes off in Australia (touch-wood). Two months straight of Superb Combi ads in Wheels magazine! A new Sydney dealership, Trivett Skoda in Blacktown (not that anything's there quite yet). New product, good luck to them!

Yes, it's true. A mate has an RS on order and was told the other week that it will have satnav as std (some other minor stuff too - can't remember what)

Just checked out Skoda NZ, their RSs come standard with Xenon lights and Bluetooth. What gives? The price of $55000 maybe.
Yeah but they don't get heated seats standard.
It's just how the local distributor decides to spec the car for where they want to place it in their market. Skoda in Australia I'm sure deliberately leave out some options that most people will buy (Xenon lights and Bluetooth are obvious ones) so that they keep the published list price down but maximise profit by jacking up the price of the options that they know most people will select.
In NZ I think the vRS is marketed as a bit more of an upmarket car than the way it's pitched here so they can put extra things in and people will buy them. Remember Skodas are not new to NZ. We had them there in limited numbers through the 60's 70's and 80's.
BTW $55k NZ = $44k Aus so the price isn't as different as it appears when you compare the features.

I read an article that the MY11 Octavia is now being built with the 1.4TSi to replace the 1.6ltr. Does anyone know if this is correct and what other changes will this model have?? They also mentioned a starting price of $22,990 for the manual liftback.
I tried to get some info from the main website but there is nothing on there about the MY11 models although they have already gone into production and will be here in a few short months.
It would be great to get some feedback from those in the know, if this is true you will find that coupled with the Superb Wagon this product will finally shake off its NOWHERE reputation. I think it has been canvassed quite heavily by myself and others that price and specification were the only things holding them back from recognition and success.
Any feedback would be great
