Well, with some left over plasti dip and a spare hour or 2 the other night, I thought 'what the hell, and decided to do the wheels as a stop gap move until I get them powder coated. At least, if I damage it ot get sick of it, I can peel it off in a few minutes.
It was a bit a rush job, but as I have said it is a forgiving product to use and it has dried nice and flat with only a few imperfections visible on very close inspection.
I love the way it looks with the grille, mirrors, rails and badges done... but I can't show you the other side of the car because I ran out of dip on the second wheel. It just really needs some springs to make it look just right now.
I do think it looks more aggressive from the front like this too!

Thanks for posting your pictures - looks great and very helpful. Just before you started this thread, I was thinking of doing the same to my TSI as a cheap (and reversible) makeover - grille surrounds, roof rails and wheels (not sure about mirrors). The "below the lower grille" treatment like on the sedan (page 1) might also work on a TSI but I haven't seen any pictures of one that's been done.
Is it pretty easy to remove the grille surrounds without breaking anything? I haven't looked closely to see how it's attached.

MY10 Octavia Wagon in Candy White, 118TSI, DSG7
looks great with the wheels done!!
The grille assembly (including the chrome outer and finned inner sections) is attached to the bonnet by 6 Torx head screws and some push out plastic retaining plugs. As for separating the 2 parts of the grille, that is another story. You might have to ask some of the guys who have replaced the finned centre with the honeycomb replacement from Superskoda.
But, it you are looking to plasti dip the grille, there is no need to separate these 2 pieces. Just remove the whole grille assembly and dip the whole thing or mask off the centre section like I did.
I removed the roof rails and grille but simply masked off the mirrors and badges as you can see in the first lot of photos.
I can't recommend enough visiting the Youtube channel for Dip Your Car and they have about 60 videos on there that walk you through everything from cleaning and masking to painting and removal.
