Mounting iPads or portable DVD players with the RS

We will most likely replace our RS with another next year and will have a sunroof. Wondering what the options are for attaching an IPad or two for long trips as the non detached headrest means most can't mount. I've seen a few options on Briskoda but basically noone has resolved it. Apparently Volvo have seats like this so put out sock type things. Asked the dealer today, not expecting anything about it, but did ask what it would cost to get screens implanted into the seats if it comes to that. We never used them in our older RS, but my car which is used for long trips had a roof mounted screen put in earlier in the year that gets a flogging.

Yeah was looking at the Snugg, they seem to be out of production though. The other won't work at all for the reasons I first posted, the RS hasn't got posts or an adjustable headrest, its all just one seat.

Geeze the dealer has come back and said a custom fit with 7" screens in both seats and a CD stacker somewhere will be $3200, yeah not likely to go that route. It would be nice but not if an ipad I already own can be mounted safely. The Snuggs I think wouldn't hold an iPad in very securely in even hard braking so I would be worried about my kids getting hit by them flying about.

You could always just get your kids to look out the window and play I spy like we had to before the days of Apple!!!

Yeah I also remember 12hrs of trying not to feel violently ill and some of the most unpleasant car trips. I'm happy to avoid those good nostalgic times. After the 3rd hr those games just get better.

Anyone else found some solutions here? The Snugg still looks to be the best contendor. Brisskoda has had a few people ask the same thing, but with varying success. Volvo have a lot of seats in their cars like the RS but they actually make and sell compatible mounts much like a sock.

If it's just for certain trips, in the past we just used some fairly wide elastic looped around the seat and then hung the iPads in their cases (requires a case that opens like a book). This wasn't on RS style seats but it would probably still work.

I'm more concerned about these becoming launched during an accident, ie front or rear and them getting launched at our kids heads. Not many have been crash tested and a kg metal tablet at headheight isn't the best thing. Could make a relatively minor accident turn into something more nasty. I planned to get something that was put into my other car but ended up getting a roof mounted screen which was better again. That has got a heap of use and once that car becomes my wifes will definitely be wanting something in the new car, but not keen to get things messed with the car. The seat rail mounts would be secure but are down too low.

You know it didn't even occur to me, that part of the issue is that getting sunroof means you can't mount screens on the roof, only just thought it also means there is somewhere to attach these type of things though.
