A similar concept to having a fixed line machine gun firing diagonally across a line of attack rather than straight at the attack - you cover a bigger area.
I had the same idea in mind but when it came to fruition I just wanted it there. Its just high enough to see in the mirror with IT pointed high enough to JUST see the cars behind me, but I have to bob my head a bit. Well if I had have done it further under the car at least you wouldn't be able to see the led from the side.. oh well

I'd be seeing if I could fit some felt/rubber to the outside edges of the spoiler just so it doesn't rub against your paint I when you get a chance.
Also probably too late to do it but I've changed my 3rd brake light for a blackout/smoked version. It's a genuine Hella part from ECS though not sure if this would fit the Octy.
Yeah theres lots of mods to be brave about really.. thats why we like to tinker- its all part of the thrill! Same thing happening now, I've had Focus RS bonnet vents sitting here for months because Im too afraid to hurt my re-sale or make it harder to sell . Flex-wise, not a worry at all in this area, I hope that was a joke :p
Good idea with the black-out lights. I'll try to sort some tint out. And yeah I'll add some silicone under the corners of the spoiler.

Mike, the little reverse globe is a great idea... This is something that I would love to do because ive also got tinted windows and at night reversing sometimes has its challenges in dark areas....

Insert random picture of how I always hard park it in the drive

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so I never put up photos of the new head unit and reverse cam. Mainly because I've been waiting for a fascia, and newer firmware. And I haven't bothered to get the cam working properly.

Here's the new Audio-Sources DNS-810 with the new fascia that I had to wait three weeks for. Not really digging the silver. Blue was better!

    Here's the cam set up

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also installed one of the front charge air throttle pipe upgrades off AliExpress

This was the difference between the stock (lowest) and new pipes... Not much to be honest so I wouldn't be sure how much more flow it gives.

There was a difference lining up the mounting point with my engine code. The first problem was the stock silicone connectors were too short... more so the new pipe was slightly short. So I had to stretch the stock silicone pipes, and not use the proper mount to make it fit... Stupid, but a zip tie is now holding it, 6 weeks in and a track day- no problems.

The kit also came with the pipe before the intercooler. This is the difference between it and stock (silver).

Again, because of my engine code it didn't fit whatsoever. The pipes didn't meet up, and the mounts were not even remotely close... boo

I couldn't feel or hear any difference straight off, so I'm hoping the stage 2+ tune should push more air through.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two weeks ago I purchased an AutoTech High Pressure Fuel Pump upgrade second hand from Toddzy

You don't get a lot for the money but they increase the fuel flow by 50%. I'm still trying to gauge whether this permanently uses more petrol for cruising, or whether its just at WOT.

As per instructions a full rebuild of the hpfp is required mainly to clean it properly

Make sure you lock the car, if you open the driver door the fuel pump will prime and spray fuel everywhere... Also put a rag around here when you remove the fuel line

Somehow this brass fitting will now not seal fuel in completely. It doesn't look damaged at all, and I cannot see a place where a washer has fallen out Anyone have any ideas???? Skoda wants $71 for this part WHAT A JOKE.

I've used ****loads of thread sealer and now it only apears wet on the outside. It doesn't seem to be dripping... Again if anyone has an idea for this it'd be greattttttt.

So Mystical Matti got a new zorst, so I got him to mail me his old muffler

Get rid of that massive pile of poo

Wow. such dirt. Matti's hosing skills are not so epic.

    Nicer

My exhaust was 55mm, and Matti already had a 70mm fitted up. I improvised and cut a flanged section off my old cat and downpipe and welded it on :p

    Pretty terrible..

I even forgot to tack weld each side so it cooled off out of position. I used all these clamps to hold it down while I tack welded.

So, being an impatient over excited modder, I took to this job on a public holiday, meaning I couldn't find a proper band clamp anywhere. I made one from Bunnings, and got a snag while I was there

I really didn't want to weld on to the car as this might have been temporary, and I didn't know if the ecu would fry, and its hard welding upside down... I'm going to stick with it a while longer, especially now as the self tapper is about the only thing stopping it from rotating... Its a very shi7ty job. The problem is even if I had have waited till the exhaust shops were open, is that there is only a 1cm flange on the muffler side... band clamps need more than that, so I made this band clamp out of sheet metal that slides over itself and tightens, and also put a screw in each end. Silly but it worked

    And done!

Its quite loud.. Im not sure Ill keep it. Sounds good though!

Can you not make a little tab to go from the original mount to the new pipe mount.

I love your posts Mike, your car reminds me of teh Beverly Hillbilly's truck (not sure why)
