Stage 2 here also..
What I found to work really well is better springs...
But the best change was when I put on new goodyear eagle f1 as2s... Amazing grip...
Drag cars run soft springs and often disconnect the anti-roll bar. If you want to hook-up you need spring compliance and suspension travel. Unfortunately it also limits "comfortable cornering". nb: Citroen 2CV have amazing levels of corner grip on very skinny tyres but you think you are going to roll over.
The gripiest FWD car I ever owned was a Lancia. The front end lifted a crazy amount and it torque steered like a mofo - traction was fantastic.
What tyres are you running?

I've never tracked the Octavia (but have done with the Liberty, Mk1 Capri, VB Commodore & Superbug I had).
My tune was never for tracking - it was about improving driveability, getting rid of the artificial torque plateau & improving fuel economy.
My engine & gearbox have probably had an easier life with the tune than if I'd left it stock - who'd have thought?

Bluefin stg1
Forge catch can
#1 decat
copy Forge inlet & outlet intercooler pipes
GFB DV+
Golf R intercooler
Audi red top coil packs
Denso platinum spark plugs
vRS/GTI front brakes
S3 alloy lower control arms with non-voided bushes
half a dogbone insert
GTI rear sway bar with mods to make it stiffer
Eibach springs for a diesel vRS wagon
Koni Sports Dampers
various diameters & weights of rims / tyres over the years (mostly heavier but the price was right)
eucalyptus smelly thing hanging off the mirror
I think that's the bulk of it - most of it is just "tweaking" what was already good. If I could build up the enthusiasm I'd take out the springs & make it look like a grandpa car again - just to annoy people.

Hi Brad - Thanks for replying
I run Bridgestone Potenza RE002 on the front (replaced the crappy factory Dunlops although still have them on the rear). Found them to be much better handling wise but transmit a bit more road noise into the cabin.
I am not looking for ultimate grip on take-off as I rarely do the traffic light Grand Prix but it doesn't take much throttle to squeal the tyres. I agree with the comments about getting into 2nd ASAP and using the torque to get going and the DSG is great for that.
Anyways looking at trading to slightly bigger car that provides at least (preferably more) performance.
Not sure if the Octavia RS is my thing yet but considering it along with an ex-demo Golf GTi Mk7 or Focus ST etc.
IIRC the Fabia has an uncommon tyre size so there isn't much choice out there?
S001 might be a fraction better if available. Or Nitto NT05 or one of the street semi-slicks.
I've had CSC2, Kumho KU31, Michelin Primacy HP (touring tyre) and now Bridgestone RE050A. The RE050A has been the best performer of them at the expense of mileage but I can live with that. I acknowledge there are better tyres available but I buy off "upgraders" so you take what you can when the price is right.
edit: Lots of hot hatch choices out there these days - some of the Ford & Renault offerings are quite tempting

205/40X17 on the Fabia RS
But hey dont want to steal this thread anymore.
Will keep an eye on it though, as I said the Octavia RS is on the list - but Brad is right, so many tempting drives.
